my WALD kit just got here...
... thanks to berti_00! no idea when i'll be able to get it on the car, have a lot of things going on right now. It's the EX (like RBYCC's front lip) not the V4.
also, if anyone knows the paint code and name for the light gray body cladding on a '95 (below), i would appreciate it...

I agree with what zed wants to do with the color.
the two tone looks classy and classic.
I've seen a white W124 with the bottoms color matched
and it looked pretty dumb.

I agree....
When it comes to paint, best to leave the color(s) as delivered so it retains it's "period" look.

+1 for colour match. Ever since I put on the kit and colour matched people have thought the car is much newer than it is, (obiously people who don't know the Benz model line-up).
Though if you want you can stick with the grey, I can't think of any kitted or AMG cars that are two-tone. Get the car finished and throw up some pics! I want to see how this turns out.

thanks for the comments guys! And thanks RBYCC for the color code, I really needed that!
Yeah the kit is the real deal holyfield, i swear if my car was black i would have just bolted it on last night!
I had always wanted to paint the cladding white to match the car, but i really don't think i will.
I want to update and personalize the look of the car, but still retain some level of 'factory' appearance...
a couple of people have asked me if the wheels came off a new E or S class, ad one guy asked if they were off the new 7 series BMW. That's exactly what I want, for it to look somewhat 'factory' (which is why i went with this kit, it's very understated).
also, i noticed that when some people painted the cladding, the gloss white finish showed the slight 'wavyness' in the plastic cladding (noticeable on white cars, not so much on black), and i want to avoid this. also, when you use the OEM white to match, it's often slightly off, because the rest of the car has been exposed to the elements and the paint is not exactly like it was when new. I saw one car online like that, and i didn't like it.
If my car was black, then for sure i would paint the cladding. i think on white it looks classy... just me i guess!
if it looks really bad, then i'll probably paint it all, but most probably it will stay two tone!
one note though, the kit feels very fragile, like it will crack on the slightest impact. that's fiberglass for you i guess...

One of the reasons why the cladding was done in a matte finish by Mercedes.
If you recall the early attempts to color match the cladding at the factory on the SL's was horrendous.
With the wheels that you are running and with the kit installed you will have a subtle classy look that will make people notice, but yet question what sets your ride apart from a stock example

I really wish they made the EX kit for coupes. I guess I could have one modified since it's fiberglass...
The V4 kit is just too aggressive for everday driving (for me at least).
Zed, how much did you pay for that thing again?!?

The wavy look of the body cladding is due to people removing the cladding by just yanking on it. They paint it, reinstall it and low and behold, it looks wavy. Never ever seen an all original car that had wavy cladding, no matter what the color.

Did the factory ever do a gloss finish on the W124 cladding?
Pre face lift cars were only available in matte finish

When I resprayed my 400E I kept the two tone and shot the bottom cladding in gloss as opposed to semi-gloss and damn did that look good. No waves since I took them off in the correct manner.
