Can I go 245 45 R17 in the rear?

Can I go 245 45 R17 in the rear?
I currently have 225/45/R17 all around on my car, but I recently got a refund because the front two tires were seperating due to manufacturing defects. Is there any way that I could fit a 235 or possibly a 245 on the rear to get more rubber on the back wheels? the wheels measurements are 17 x 8 ET37. Thanks

Not sure your wheel is wide enough for 245s on an 8-inch rim. I've got 245/40-17, but on an 8.5 inch rim....and my rear fenders are rolled. Check with Luke at TR and he may offer some additional insight.

Well, you wouldn't want a 245/45 ...it'll be too tall. A 245mm tire fits fine on an 8" rim btw. 17" EvoII rims from SLs and E500 Limiteds run 245s on a 8.25" rim from the factory...and a few 500E guys have put 265/40s on them rims with no problems, but our rear fenders are pulled out about 2" over a stock W124 sedan. Offset is 34mm on them 8.25" rims also.
You'd def. need a fender roll and probably a different offset rim. Pretty sure it'll rub somewhere on your lowered car with no further modifications....but what do I know sitting 1500 miles away ! LOL
Chappy, your wagon has a 245/40/17 rears on 8.5" rims? My Cabby needs to roll on some wider rubber and that is very encouraging to me to read ....not that it needs it, but optically it does !

8.5 inch is what I have in the rear. I took them off my CLK55 - staggered setup (7.5 X 17 front, 8.5 X 17 rear).

FWIW, I think there is a set or two of Mono IIs in 17 being advertised in the Classified Section. Lensolo may have a set plus another member as well.

I hate to thread jack, but since this is about 245's and all I figured I'd throw in my question too.
My rear's are 245/45/17's on an 8.5" ET 40. Its sticking out already, and rubs when there are people in the car.
I just bought lowering springs, and am in the process of buying stiffer shocks. What are my options, what can be done?
Im in need of desperate help...lol

It seems to me that the rear set-up is too tall in the tire aspect ratio and/or the rim is too wide for your car. 8.5 wide rims usually fit W124 sedans but its the offset on those that mean everything....and other folks here run that size tire on 17s though. Lowering springs doesn't sound like a good idea...does it if it rubs now? It'll rub more with lowering springs. Of course, a body shop could pull out those rear arches but that's $$$.

Pretty sure you could sell the rims and get the correct ones for almost a wash...if they are nice shape, etc.

It rubs on the inside of the outer fender, at the sharp edge. I actually have lost a tire because of that rubbing.
If the rear's cant be rectified, they will be on sale by tonight. Thing is, not enough of them are selling to buy back another set.
