Glass sunroof for W124? Where to buy? How to make?
Hello all! I have recently bought a stunning '92 Brilliant Silver W124 300 CE-24 which I truly love as I think it is one of the best cars ever made (along with the whole W124, W123 and W126 line) and it makes me smile every time I drive it.
I'm aiming for 100% stock original condition during repairs and restoration.
However, there is one little detail, the original sunroof has broken down, to be precise, it doesn't close evenly and is also a bit rusty which made me think of a replacement.
Is it possible to "upgrade" to a glass sunroof? W123 got it, W140 got it, W210 got it .. why not W124? Please help, any advice will be highly appreciated

Of course it is possible. I just can not find a company that will make one. I have seen custom jobs on certain TV shows, but have not have luck in my searches (and I have searched hard). Please do update this thread if you find any info.

I have driven a lot of cars but sincerely, you don't need a $200k+EUR car to feel good about driving it.. less is sometimes more (I kinda wish I knew this earlier but of course I am not sorry about it, everything has its time and place )

However, regarding the ride and solid feel, it is an excellent car in every other way.
I would not upgrade the lamps for xenons for example because such upgrade doesn't fit and look hideous. The sunroof is OK IMO.

Yea, this is one of the nicer upgrades that most of us have never seen before. I would like an idea of the work involved and time it took.

i 'think' the guy means, if you have a sunroof, then use a 210 mechanism, and if you haven't got a sunroof, you will have to cut a hole in your roof... because if you just place a moon roof cassette on the top of your car, you wont be able to see through it, and when you drive, it will fall off lol
