How many miles do you have on your E Class?
78K miles
Enjoy the car, but (1) had rusty spring perches, 100% paid to fix by MB (2) had head gasket leak at 78K miles -to be paid out of my pocket - ... Car is in service now with head gasket problem, will pick it up tomorrow
I guess I am the "lucky" one with 2 notorious, well-known problems with E320 (W210)... Hopefully I would be able to keep it until I throw it out at 250K miles with minimum maintenance costs. This is my first MB and will be my last, I gave MB a chance but it failed to keep me as a repeated customer ... My next car WILL be a LEXUS
The next time that you have to replace a window regulator, would you please take pictures of each steps and share your techniques with us... Thanks
Year: 1999
Country: USA
Mileage: 112K
New to this forum and first time MB owner. Had the car for about a year now and love it. No big problems at all except the sunroof needs some work. It pops open but the window won't fully slide back. Changed a few bulbs and have the oil changed regularly. Love the smooth ride but not too crazy about the color anymore. I think they call it sable. Sort of a cross between silver and tan. It just looks plain compared to other cars in the same year and model. Besides, I've seen a half dozen in my part of town and I just don't feel special anymore. LOL
Wheels are always a great way to change the appearance of the car. But don't change it too much. You've got something good going, don't change it unless you really have to.
Should you still wish to do so, consider Brabaus, Lorinser, Renntech, and Kleemann, the favorite tuning companies.

130,000 miles
Very reliable, drive like new... Need control arm bushings replacement once in a while. I probably will drive it past 200,000 miles, I do not trust the reliability of the W211. Only other car I would consider is the E55 W210 but I do not like the black or black/white interior.... If they ever made an E55 with a tan interior, I would already have one.

Bought at 49xxx miles.
-2005: Replaced differential ($2.5K value) under Starmark within 6 months of ownership. Transmission service at 56,xxx miles. Service B.
-2006: Brake service ($1K). Service A and Winter service (flush fluids). Driver's side window regulator replaced ($200). Both sun visors replaced ($400).
-2007: Service B. Replace leaking radiator ($500). Replace dash lights to vents.
Now mileage is nearing 99,xxxx miles. Not a single problem. Little nuances i.e. rattling sunroof cover and popping seat can be fixed, but never get around to it. CD changer stopped working, so getting another ($300). Retrofit Bi-xenon in process. LED Red/Smoke tail lights installed. White LED license plate lights. EL trunk lid. Wood/leather steering wheel on order at ForMyMercedes.com. Most reliable car that I have ever owned. Mind you, coming from 1995 Chevy Beretta Z26 to 2002 Camaro SS to W210. Just gas and drive. I love it...drives like new. Considering another transmission service. Recommended or no?

HAD:1997 E420 with 212,000
1996 E320 with 71,000
also had older style diesels and gasoline models from 190E's 190D's up to S500's with 200k to 450k
Model: E300 TurboDiesel
Miles: 122,000

At least I think I'm funny.
Model: E300
Country: US
Mileage: 201,000
Comments: Bulletproof diesel-I have a 160 mile roundtrip commute everyday so the miles have added up quickly. Original motor and tranny.
I had a minor fuel leak ($2 hose replacement). Aside from that, routine oil changes every 3k miles-that's about it
2nd w210:
Year: 1999
Model: E320
Country: US
Mileage: 116,000
Comments: Some minor issues-MAF, window regulator, usual bulbs burning out, etc. Harmonic balancer was replaced by my mechanic before the recall/notice, but it was reinspected recently by MB and found to be fine. Between the two cars, I prefer the diesel any day of the week
The 1996 E300D now has 222,000 miles. I no longer have that ridiculously long commute. Instead of 160 miles/day, I now drive about 70-75/day. Still no problems with the car.
I sold the 1999 E320 and replaced it with a 99 E320 4matic with 65k miles. I still prefer the 200k+ diesel over this car.
Model: E320
Mileage: 155K (100 mile/day commute)
Gas mileage: 22 mpg avg.
Comments: one of the most reliable car I've ever owned. In the shop every 10K mile for oil change & service (if needed). Replaced MAF once, and window regulator about zillion times (on my own), and that's all.
Update: Car is 180K now. Still drive & handle well.
Both cat converter went out couple weeks ago, $1800 job. Car run much smoother and have better gas mileage after cat replacement.
Model: E-420
Miles: 120,000 (70,000 since I purchased it in Oct 2002)
Comments: Major repairs
- New transmission $4900
- Engine cooling fan $460
- 2 window regulators $512
- windshield replacement $250
- AC fan $860
- Turn signal switch $300
- Engine shroud $320
I am getting the Depo/BMW/Infinity Bi-xenon light upgrade from Zam.
I love how the car corners, handles, takes steep hills effortlessly and cruises. It is a great pleasure to drive.
Had the car for 3 yrs.
knock on wood so far I just replaced both engine mounts.
Car runs great. No major problem .... yet
