Error B1234 (Sun Sensor Malfunction)

Does anyone know what the symptoms are of a malfunctioning sun sensor and/or has anyone corrected this error code?

When I pointed out this code to the dealer, I was told "they all have it". I know the sun sensor is located in the center of the dashboard, near the windshield, and am now wondering if it requires the dash to be removed, hence their response. My car is still under warranty.

Thanks!

Yeah, mine had that too, but I was pretty stupid to bring up those codes when I had the front sunscreen in place

Haha, I had noticed that little bump in the middle of the upper dashboard, and I didn't have a clue until I happened to see that comment.

Does anyone have a pic of the sun sensor? I'm pretty sure i might know what your talking about, I am getting that b1232 error code also. how would you go by replacing it if it is the prob. I don't want to pull the whole dash to get underneath it.

Do you mean

you are getting the B1234 code error indicated above?
If so just ignore it has nothing to do with the proper operation of the A/C system and a failure of the sensor is never even noticed.

1997 E320 Sedan
I have a '97 E320 sedan with an A/C problem. When at a stop light, the fan blows very warm to hot air but when normal vehicle speed is reached after a short time (2 min.), the fan blows cool air. If I travel at 55 mph, I would not see the problem. So after doing some surfing on the internet and this forum, I see that I can disregard DTC Readout Code 234, but what about code 459 "Serial Interface Connection (K2) to Instrument Cluster (IC)?

Below are the actual readings from the sensor checks:

The evaporator temperature appears to be quite high, which I know should be well below ambient. The refrigerant temperature seems quite high but may not be if on the high side of the compressor...where is this temp sensed?

Lack of cooling while the vehicle is still could indicate the aux. fans are not turning to draw air across condensor. How can I trouble shoot this? Also, I've read threads indicating a small belt connects the two fans. If this is the case on my '97 E320, that's part of my problem.

Now, I've said a lot. Doe anyone have any suggestions as to what problem I have and what I should do to repair?

With four straight days of 100 degrees F in Mississippi, I would rather use the sauna at the health club...
