Possible TRADE for a S 430 ?
Ok guys, need your help,
I have a chance to trde my 99 E430 Sport with 112k on it, for a 00' S430 with 85k on it original owner. I love my E430, and was thinking about selling it for a E55 04'. What should I do???????????????
Anyone know of any common problems with the 00 S430's ?
It would be nice for OHLORD to chimine in.....................................

I thought about what you contemplating and researched what I found was the older S class 99 is a better bet over the 00 S Class......the newer S class had a ton of issues.....do a seach on the S Class forum and you will get all the details.

not only electrical problems, but airmatic problems to the max.
I don't think I would buy a first year car, and certainly not a first year 220.
If you want an Sclass, go 04 and up.

unless you really enjoy gettin a$$_raped in repairs & maintenance, i'd stay really far away from W220. especially first yr 00 ones.
04 W211 E55.. wait just 1-2 yrs and those will be dirt cheap.. but again, W211 has its share of problems.. how long can the supercharged engine last, transmission, SBC, airmatic, dismal gas mileage, 10x more complicated electronics & fiber optic CAN.. goodluck

did not come out till 03,so I should say he most assuredly stay away from one made in 00
for that matter an 04 E55 would be worthy of staying away from as well.

I'll chime in... ever consider '01-'02 w210 E55's??
Why? IMO, it's not as problematic (think $$$$) as the W211 E55's due to less complexity in techno-gadgets in nature... heck, the w211's Airmatic, SBC, etc... will empty your bank account. Not that the w210 can't, but at least you're cutting your losses. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to have a w211 E55 too BUT I'm not uber-rich and ready to step up further and tackle the $ervice since most are out of warranty. Now it would turn the tables if you were able to get an '05+ E55 with warranty for mighty dirt cheap!
But if you got the dough, then by all means spend away... but you have been warned!
