TCU swap out idea

I've been thinking about sending Eurocharged my Transmission Control Unit (TCU) for them flash, but I don't want to be without my ride for the time it takes for them to flash and return it. I contacted them and was told the Mercedes Benz TCUs aren't "married" to the vehicle VIN like the MB Engine Control Units (ECUs). So, now my plan is to buy a used one, send it in to Eurocharged and then swap this flashed unit with the original in my car. Is anyone out there interested in doing the same thing? If you are, perhaps you would like to purchase my good, unflashed TCU to send to Eurocharged to eliminate unncessary down time. (Note: My vehicle is a W210 2000 E55 AMG and the part number is 0215458832. It is not to be confused with part number 0215458732, which looks virtually identical and is from 1999!) Let me know, if you'd like to do this!

Any thing is possible as long as you have the correct MB DAS Xentry diagnostic tool. However double check your part number vs what is being offered.

If the part numbers are different then all the software in the world will not help you.

PS: By the way WTF are you going to do with a spare TCM/TCU

According to Eurocharged Performance it's a fact and I suspect they know of what they speak. I can buy a "clean pull" 2000 E55 AMG TCU that is guaranteed from a wrecking yard with the correct part number for under $200 delivered and pass that good deal along when I sell mine. There has been enough response to this idea that I'm going to go ahead and buy one. So, my fully functional, unmodified TCU will go on sale as soon as EC returns the one I send them. Payment can be made to me via PayPal when that happens. I'll keep the forum posted!

Re-read my post. The idea is to keep a unit being passed along between Eurocharged customers so everyone involved does the same short term purchase/fast resell to avoid the downtime incurred by pulling the TCU from their ride and waiting for EC to send it back. Short of Eurcharged providing a TCU "loaner" to its customers, it's the only option. If everyone is honest and can read a part number, the idea works!

I am still very confused. I am of the school that tunes of any sort is pissing away(wasting) very good money. Especially in NV where there are all sorts of alternatives to blowing money away!!

Sorry. I was assuming you were confused over my process for getting a TCU to Eurocharged Performance with no downtime and not confusion over my spending money for the tuning itself. Dynamometers and E.T.s don't lie. EC charges a fair price for what they do, IMHO.

The "87 32 & 88 32" #s should has EGS51,, which can’t be programmed,, EC should replaced to EGS52,, did they tolled you that....?!?!,,

If you have a "2.8ME ECU & touch shift +/-,Trans. with the EGS52", it well be easy programmed.....

Don't know where you heard that. I just bought a tune for my 2000 E55 AMG (TCU part # A0215458832) from Eurocharged this week! However, it's possible that it's an uncommon tune for my vehicle since it's actually listed as a C55, CLK55, SLK55 tune (up to 2010!) and not an early E55 tune specifically. As I said in an earlier post, I suspect EC knows of what they speak. They sold it to me knowing full well what I drive.

As i know; the EGS51 cannot be programmable,, it should be EGS52,, and this upgrade also required a "Blue top solenoids",, i tried many companies like

"Kleemann - MKB - Renntech", they all said its impossible to tune or programmed the EGS51, which you & i already had it,, Eurocharged may only

reset & reflash it for you,,

*Pls. read careFULY the threads from Abalone & GMP performance:-

Wow, Zayed! That's a gob of relevant posts [not included here] that are certainly worthwhile. Thanks! It's nice to have someone in this forum that is a great source of information that won't waste your time with BS! Just so you know, I just sent an email to Eurocharged and asked specifically if they can re-program my TCU with part # 0215458832 EGS51. I'll see what they say and then I'll let you know. Thanks, again amigo!

Zayed, Here's the email I just got back from Eurocharged:

Roger – We can only program the EGS52 and EGS53 control units. The EGS51 cannot be flashed. Some W210 E55’s have the EGS52 control unit and some have the EGS51 control unit. Thanks for checking!

So there you have it! I'll hunt for an EGS52 version to drop in my ride to replace the EGS51! There's got to be one out there.

Rog,

Thankss aloooot for your time & sharing this value info.,,

*While you have a touch shift +/-,, you just need to put EGS52, calibration & update it with the ECU,, you should do that in the dealer or a very

professional shop(who knows about Star & SDS).......

Hey, Zayed!
I found an EGS52 type TCU for my E55 this morning and bought it for $100 delivered. One of the years and models it cross-references to is a 200 E55 AMG. The guys at Eurocharged say they're not "married" to a particular vehicle so I think I'm in luck, finally. My car must have been one of the earlier ones manufacturered in 2000 or late 1999, for that matter. So, when it arrives, I'll swap it in to test it. Then, if it's OK, I'll do a "sneaky reset" and send it in to EC for them to flash. by then, I'll have my ECU flashed by them, so I'll be ready to rock 'n roll!

Rog,

What's the part # of that TCU you bought...?, is it : "027 545 12 32" or "030 545 23 32".....??,,

Also you need to be sure that TCU(which you ordered),gets-off from any models that had 2.82 diff.,,

It may not works if you swapped without calibration with ECU.......!!

By the way; is your ECU started with: "02xxxx" or "113xxxx".....???

Zayed,

The TCU I just bought is from a 2002 E430 and its part number is 0305452032. The part number of the ECU in my car is 0265453132. BTW, I spent quite a bit of time with Adam Chisum of Eurocharged today via phone and computer link today trying to do a remote flash on my ECU. We just can't get my laptop to the read the VIN and ID of the ECU from the OBDII port. Adam says this is a rare event. As a result, I'm going to send my ECU in to be flashed when my new TCU arrives. Adam thinks there will be no problem getting both of them flashed. (BTW, Adam is one hell of a good guy!)
Wish me luck,

I contacted to Jerry from E/C, about putting EGS52 and reprogramme it, but unfortunately he said:-

"!!..After check, can’t do the TCU..!!"

*I hope Adam can do it, what do you think....!!??

Zayed,
There is clearly some confusion going on about this. My correspondence with Jerry indicates that the EGS52 type TCU that I purchased is programmable. He did tell me to test it for normal operation in my car before I send it to EC. Like I said, we'll see.

Ahhh, sorry, maybe im little hurry...,, i thought you already tested the TCU(which you purchased),, its a little complicated thing to me,, cause the only disadvantage thing with me, that i don’t have a touch shift +/-........

Total cluster!

Zayed,
I finally got the TCU but the parts yard sent me an EGS51 type because the exact one I purchased (EGS52type) somehow got water damaged and was thrown out! They didn't know what I was planning so they thought they were doing me a favor by sending the one that is OEM for my car. So, it's on its way back for a refund. The only other TCUs out there that might work are around $300 used. Too much money and time at this point. Yesterday, I contacted Jerry and blew off the TCU tune and he already sent me a refund for the programming! (He is a super guy!) So, I'm just going to send in my ECU and leave it at that. So, this puts an official end to this thread. Thanks for all your help.
