Its been a while since we'd discussed using the remote to open and close all the windows......and recently I read on the CLK W209 forum that they too have this (and was all excited about the discovery) but they can also program their remote/key to unlock just the passenger side door instead of all four + trunk - presumably for safety reasons......Can ours do that?
Also, they can use the recirc. button on the AC to open and close all windows at once! I tried it on a 209 and it did work.....truly amazing. Can our cars do that?

Hmmm, very interesting. More info. please...

A lot of fluff but I couldn't be bothered to edit it (hands still sore from filing!)....
Hidden tricks of the MB
I've yet to try both..... but I seem to remember someone here mentioning the recirc. button trick does work

Gotta love hidden features. I beleive the word was originated when bugs started appearing in programs that actually turned out to be useful. At my company, any time we find a bug in a peice of software, we refer to it as a hidden feature
You just have to wonder of all of the "hidden features" are there intentionally

How about a hidden equalizer like Audi has in their Bose system?
Press the right buttons and it gives you a 6 or 7 band numerically tuned equalizer shown in the radio dial.

On my 98 E430 it's like that.
Press once on open and only passanger door opens.
Press twice all dors open.
Press and hold open and all windows and sunroof open.
Press and hold close and all windows and sunroof will close.
I have a feeling all those "hidden" features were actually factory but got either lost in the manual translation or older cars get their keys messed up and when you somehow reprogram them it seems like you discovered a hidden feature. Neverthelss it's fun to discover

I can't seem to get my key to just open one door in the way the CLK's ones are reprogrammed.......there must be a way, now that you'd confirmed our cars can do it......the quest continues.......

Yep, confirmed..the later smart keys (with three buttons) CAN be programmed for a single door unlock.....its actually in the manual, along with the remote windows up and down function. Now I can prevent unwanted passengers (if I want to) from entering when I do or play a trick on my friends who are used to me unlocking their doors for them
Now to try the single button window operations.......

Did you also know that you can enable / disable the auto locking feature on your car.
When I first got my car all doors locked automatically when I started to drive. This I thought was a real P.I.T.A. I then discovered that pressing the central lock button inside the car and holding it depressed for 6 seconds (in open position ) disabled this feature. and if you want to enable it again just press lock, and hold for 6 sec. and it is on again.

Whitey,
My car only has one hidden feature, and that's reliability (ok, I won't go there) anyway... I can use the remote open for windows, doors, and the sunroof. But not those addtnl buttons you guys discussed.
Did someone with a E320 say they were successful?

I get the feeling we all have it, its just a matter of activating them. For the single door unlock feature (very useful when alone
), you need to:1) Point the key at the IR receiver (I assume its on the door handle on your model) at close range - a few inches would be optimal,
2) Press and hold simultaneously the unlock and lock buttons on your remote, for about 8 seconds and the light on the key will flash, meaning its set to the new setting.
3) To reset, repeat the procedure.
The other "hidden" features should be on the threads I'd linked. Most of these are actually in the owners' manual........if only we ever bother to read it
Good luck and have fun!

The key actually has a dual remote, infrared (IR) and RF. For the IR you have to be less than 5 feet from the driver side door (there's a sensor at the back of the door handle). RF just unlocks the door (s).Originally posted by 6.3

Speaking of which, as Whitey said you can change settings (by keeping both lock & unlock key pressed) to make it just open the driver door the first button press and a second press for all doors. This setting is key specific, so if you have another key for the car its settings will not change.
I also noticed that the air pressure on the car is automatically restored (maybe I'm hallucinating). On Friday i was coming back from our branch office and the passenger front tire was a little low but I was in a rush and didn't fill it up and just drove (doing about 80 mph). When I got to my destination i checked the tire to see what condition it was in and lo-and-behold, it was backup up to the original setting. I did RTFM and couldn't find this "secret" anywhere. Does anyone have any ideas?
Auto tire presssure adjustment? Does that work with any wheel you put on
Sounds like a James Bond option.......
Seriously tho', I think its just the expansion of the air in your tires after its warmed up.....good try nonetheless

Actually I still haven't had to take it for air and its been a week since that incidence. Speaking of hot air...
