AJ,
I just upgraded the shocks to Bilstein HD on my E320. Right now the ride seems a little too sporty to me, I may consider selling them. Are you interested? This is probably the only upgrade you can do besides changing the springs.

E320 4-matic wagon
I've heard generally positive comments regarding the Bilstiens on this and other forums. But, I've been told that for the 4-matic, you can't simply change the shocks for various reasons relating to the fact that the front assembly is different due to 4-wheel drive, and there was also some issue regarding the rear, which I don't recall off-hand.
Regarding what I don't like: I find the ride to be a little on the soft side, too much lean in turns, etc. From what I hear about the Bilstien HD, they provide a firmer/sportier ride, which is what I am trying to attain. I'm also probably going with the 17" wheels a la the 430.

AJ,
Your first move should be the 17" wheel upgrade. This will eliminate the side to side motion and improve the ride and handling I would say by 25%. That should be your base to build from. You may be satisfied with just that move.

Don't believe that the 17" wheels will change the ride or the leaning in turns that you don't seem to like. If possible to install, a heavier shock absorber would give you a stiffer ride but thats all. I do not notice anything bad about the ride of my 01 E320 4Matic but thats a matter of personal opinion. Why not just flip it in for one with the sport package and save yourself all the expermentation.

I have the same car (e320 4matic wagon) and the only aftermarket suspension I could find is Brabus. They have springs and shocks for the 4matic as well as sway bars. I have ordered the springs but have not recieved them yet.
