ok ok whew! no i hadn't bought yet
In fact i saw sign in a town that i dont normally go to - and they offered lens cleaning with like 1 year warranty or something, for just 50$
so i did that, save the 150$ and they look great
idk what they used but it did come in something special package like.
and they look great ...well 1125% better

There's a quality difference between OEM Hellas at $600 each versus cheap knockoffs at $225 for a pair. Been there, done that. You won't like driving at night with them.
if you have halogens and not Xenon, new old-stock lenses may be available on eBay out of the country of Latvia. I purchased the last Xenon lenses they had. I've posted how to replace the lenses. Takes about 2 hours for the pair.

That looks like the Euro halogen versions brought into the US. The Euro high-beam lens is slightly different from the US-DOT version. You'll see the difference in the photo of before/after in the DIY instructions in the attached link. FWIW, I could not get the .pdf file to upload into this post...
If you do not have "auto-level" headlights (standard on E55, optional on the other versions) ignore anything about the stepper motor. Do be prepared to find the internal harness is flaking insulation. You can find replacement harness versions for the non-auto-level halogen headlights on Ebay.

Mods, please forgive my posting a link to my work on the other forum...
EDIT: link to reworking the harness by hand plus some info on replacement harnesses

Different bureaucracies...not enough difference to matter. Look at the high beam lens in the final before/after photo and, if you concentrate, you can see the difference. I've been running the Euro lenses for 9 years with no issue. Plus, it is only on high-beam so city driving is no different.

Go to mbepc.net. Search by VIN. Enter your VIN and submit it. If you have an ad blocker in your browser you may need to refresh the screen. The next screen that pops up will show the data card for your vehicle listing all options that were placed under your car. I know in the E55 they came with Xenon headlights; the other models came with halogens. The xenons usually have all kinds of warning stickers about warning danger gefahr with a picture of a big lightning bolt.
Edit: Mercedes-Benz electronic part catalog will also take you to the parts list where you can get the part number for your car's headlights based upon the code for your headlights which is available in the data card.
Look up data card, find the three digit code that applies to your headlights, then go to parts list, search out the section pertains to your headlights, and pick the part number that has the code shown in your data card.
