Radio Preset Petition or something...
I now know this has been discussed at some length on this forum. I have my 05 E500 4matic for 450 miles now. I got out of a Lincoln LS which i must say, had the BEST ergonomically designed steering wheel radio buttons i've ever used - all on one side of the wheel, usable by one hand. That being said, at 6FT, i just sit too far from the dash and am not used to having to look & reach to change the damn presets. I'm really ticked. Can't we assign a sticky to some thread and let people add their vin numbers to it so MB realizes how many of us WANT this fix BAD. Does anyone out there have an email for MB engineering? Has anyone spoken to MB beyond the dealer level about this issue?
SORRY BUT I NEED TO VENT. IT JUST KILLS ME NOT TO HAVE THIS FUNCTIONALITY.

I heard rumors a year or so ago that talked about a software upgrade to fix this.
I agree with you, seeking from the steering wheel is just plain stupid. Whoever made the decision not to have the presets changeable via the steering wheel should be banished to redesigning the K car.

Get used to it???
Unfortunately it not something i'll ever get used to...think of it as trying to change your tv without a remote. I'm a radio station surfer. While driving the car is awesome, the fact that i'm stuck on one station OR have to take my eyes off the road to change the damn station is a MAJOR distraction and disappointment and takes away tremendously from what I get out of MY driving experience. I hope i get used to it...

Have you considered adding a voice-activated cell phone? I use the voice feature to change radio stations. You pull the lever, say "radio...97.5", and it does it for you. I've never missed the steering wheel presets!

Or add Sirius Radio to the car. Although there are no voice commands for the Satellite portion of the Comand, you will spend much longer on a station since they don't have comercials.

Remote has me thnking...
If anyone has one of these remotes, all you ahve to do is learn the IR codes, and maybe put a keypad on the steering wheel (doubtful) or on the center console where you can feel the numbers...anyone in NJ have one I could borrow for a day or two?

If you had read all the previous posts on this then you would understand that it's not completely the fault of MB, it is cars that use MOST technology (try it in a 7-series BMW and see what happens).
MOST is not under the complete control of MB so complaining to them will probably have little effect.
