When I took a closer look in bright sunshine today, I found the intake manifold clamp screws obviously had been removed and reinstalled; they had socket marks on the edges; they may have replaced the intake manifold.
No, 2007010004 was released for the M273 engine (550).

It may be 2008010005 released 2/1/08 - Recall: Models 164, 164.8, 211, 251 with Diesel Engine OM 642 Model Years 2006 – 2008 Replace Crankshaft Position Sensor.

Time permitting, I will try to retrieve more information next week.

Service Campaign 2008010003 JAN08 - MY07 211 on affected vehicles an incorrect air duct assembly may have been installed leading to insufficient airflow to the engine. Dealer will replace the assembly. Approximately 57 vehicles are affected.

Recall Campaign 2008010005 FEB08 – 164, 164.8, 211, 251 with diesel engine OM642 MY06-08 the crankshaft position sensor could fail due to separation of bond wires from the lead frame in the sensor. This results in an interruption in the electrical connection in the chip housing of the sensor. When this happens, affected vehicles will loose all engine power rather than enter a limp-home mode. In addition, the affected vehicles cannot restart after failure. This may result is stalling on the highway without the ability to restart and move the vehicle. Dealer will replace the crankshaft position sensor. Approximately 8,524 vehicles affected.

VIN range not included for these bulletins therefore call your dealer to have them check VMI.

Dealer must check VMI to see if vehicle is included in campaign.

Campaign 200801003 Check Air Duct (Bluetec)

Sorry; this was covered in an earlier post. My bad. 57 vehicles and mine was one of them..

Paperwork just came in from the dealer for the part replaced on my Bluetec. Below is the text of the invoice (N/C)

CAUSE: CAMPAIGN 2008010003

025866 AIR DUCTING AT RADIATOR, REPLACE
2153 W40 0.40
1 211-500-15-16 AIR BAFFLE

17603 REMOVED OLD AIR DUCT AND INSTALLED NEW ONE. HAD TO REMOVE HOOD LATCH STRIKER AND MOVE CABLE OUT OF THE WAY. INSTALLED NEW AIR DUCT AND CONFIRMED INSTALLATION.

I will check up on the other Campaign (crankshaft sensor) with the dealer tomorrow.

I have a 2003 E320 with 80K on it ... making a popping sound up front. Bought used, very nice, new tires and new Bilstein struts - but the popping sound is still there. We have been searching for a solution to this noise for a long time.

Will MB Dealer fix this, and can I get a PDF copy of P-B-46.40/53?

Thanks!

As I reported in another thread, my 07 Bluetec OM642 engine is not in the list of affected vehicles.

Hmmm...interesting. I see you drive an AMG. I wonder if it's for AMGs only since I didn't get one of those letters (though maybe I will in the next few days).

The letter says it's for certain '03-'06 E-classes so your '08 shouldn't be included.

That's mean, we are getting both new fuel filters in the process, in which, we don't have to worry about changing our fuel filters for the next 60k. Save our money. I like...

Well, just called my dealer today and mention about this 2008-020001campaign and the SBC campaign DTB P-B-42.46/27e (suction damper.)

The girl working at the service department was acting stupid. Uh...these campaign does not apply to your vehicle under this VIN# and blah blah blah...Then I mention I had these letter to back me up and these should be fix under manufactor warranty, since my vehicle is still under factory warranty. She than, oh...ok, she put me on hold and came back would you like to make an appoinment for these items. I was like hell yeah stupid. That's why I called you.

Damn, the dealer... I went into service B about two weeks ago. They should have done this SBC campaign for me. They just wanted your money than send you back out. Forget about the voluntary service work. They don't have time for that.

By the way, thank you Dan, you're the man...

Recall 2008020001 MAR08 211 and 219 AMG 2003 – 2006. When exposed to high ambient temperatures in combination with frequent stop and go driving small cracks may develop over time in the fuel filter module assembly due to mechanical stress. Fuel evaporation through these cracks may lead to fuel smell and evaporative emissions standards may be exceeded. Dealers will check the assembly and install an improved fuel filter module assembly if necessary. Approximately 8,011 vehicles involved.

Service Campaign 2008020005 MAR08 CLK63, E63, CLS63 2007 & 2008 Due to increased crankcase pressure the oil dipstick may be pushed out of the guide tube causing rough engine idle. The oil dipstick will be replaced and on certain vehicles, in addition the crankcase ventilation pressure regulator valve will be replaced. The following VINs require dipstick replacement only: WDBTK77G17T071413, WDBUF77X87A968488, WDBUH77X07A970116, WDBTK77G07T071869, WDBUH77XX7A965604, WDDDJ77X37A074470, WDBUF77XX7A961445, WDBUH77XX7A968504, WDDDJ77X77A075041, WDBUF77X97A966975, WDBUH77X17A968570, WDDDJ77X87A075467, WDBUF77XX7A968475, and WDBUH77X17A969119.

Is there any chance someone can tell us which VIN ranges are affected by this recall?

Letter to owner states:
“In our continuing efforts to assure the proper performance of Mercedes-Benz products and the satisfaction of our customers, Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC has initiated a Voluntary Emissions Recall Campaign for certain Model Year 2003 - 2006 E-Class and 2006 CLS-Class vehicles.”

Bulletin title:
“MODELS 211 AND 219 AMG MODEL YEARS 2003 – 2006”

Leads one to believe 2003 through 2006 E55 AMG and 2006 CLS55 AMG models are involved.

VIN range is not listed when in doubt have your dealer run your VIN in VMI to confirm if your vehicle is included.
