"Puck with tail" initial impressions.....
My other delimma is that we have Nextel/Sprint service. I looked on their site and didn't find any of the phones listed here: http://www.whnet.com/4x4/pdf/B67875855.pdf. Will I be able to use any phone that's BT ready?
I ordered the part from another dealer (Park Place in Ft. Worth, TX) and got a completely different reaction. The parts guy and SA were super cool and the technician said "that sounds pretty cool, let me check it out". I didn't even have an appointment. An hour later I had the part installed and even had my head unit firmware upgraded so that I could play MP3 files. Both things worked flawlessly. All controls work great.
I have a Motorola Q9m that I sync with my Exchange Server and my phone book downloaded in about 10 min (2000 contacts). I only had to pair the phone.
Without this board I never would have been able to figure this out. This is my first MB I am totally stoked!
Is this what you're looking for?

NICE WHEELS!
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
or is that even for only MB approved phones?
i don't mind not having callerID or phonebook upload feature if i can just send/receive calls by using steering/comand buttons...

I'm now pretty darned confused, but fairly sure that I'm on the right track.
First, I bought my E320 used (I'll spare you the details, but suffice it to say I love this thing) and when I got it, it had a V60 installed in the cradle. The phone is mostly dead as the battery won't hold a charge, and that's OK, because it's yesterday's phone. I'm wanting to stick a Bluetooth thingy in this car and, hopefully, use it with an iPhone. So, two questions:
Is there an advantage to using the V60-style puck (p/n B67875856) over the cradle replacer (p/n B67875855--hopefully, I have both p/n's correct)? If so, what is it? Price? Ease of installation? I would consider using the cradle replacer if I could bury the replacer a little deeper in the car and free up the center armrest for some other use. (Is that more than one question?!)
Second, if the car has had the V60 operating in it before, which I think it has, will I need to get my dealer to do anything with the programming? Or should this work "out of the box?"
Third (OK, I'm trying to sneak a third item in under the radar!), has anybody used either one of these units with an iPhone?
Thanks a zillion,
Bill

Is that possible?
Is that possible?
I would look under the false bottom of the armrest and see if the connector is there..

Is that possible?
dunno y it wouldn't work unless ur SOS uses digital signal...
Our E500 did not have either the Phone or the Navigation system installed and the Bluetooth Cradle Replacer does work fine even though many dealers that I talked to told me that it would not work. DON’T TAKE NO FOR AN ANSWER!!!
Read further for my drawn out explanation if you wish.
We have a 2003 E500 Sport model that we purchased used about 2 years ago. The car came from the factory without a phone system or navigation system. A few months ago I started checking about having the phone system installed from Mercedes. Two different dealers told me that since the car did not have the wiring from the factory that it would cost about $3000.00 to install the system. I did not want to use aftermarket parts so I started looking around on these forums. I discovered the Mercedes newschannel update dated June 29, 2007 which announced the availability of this unit and basically stated that it would work on the 2003/2004 E-Class cars. This is because even though the vehicle does not have the phone and nav wiring, all cars were equipped with the CP211 TeleAid feature and this kit uses this wiring. I took this info to the dealer and they installed the system. When the serviceman came to get me he showed me that the system was working (sort of) but told me that we would have to still use the phone to make calls. The speakers in the car worked but the display said “phone not installed”. I brought the car home and did a little more research. Everything told me that the system should work completely. I called the dealer again and talked to the service manager and he agreed with me and told me to bring the car back and he would look into it more. When I got there he paired his blackberry to the car and tried that with the same results. I showed him some information I got from this forum about firmware upgrading and version coding. He took the car and said that he wanted to try a few things. About 30 minutes later he brought the car to me and everything was working. He told me that it was firmware that was the problem before. Everything on the console and steering wheel works great. I can call up my phone book and make calls from it without taking my hands off of the steering wheel. I did discover that the system can store 2 phones. My wife and I both have RAZR phones with AT&T service. Once I installed the second phone all I have to do is go to the phone and turn on the Bluetooth connection and it links to the car and downloads the phone book. System is great. Don’t let anyone tell you that it won’t work. If they do, I can give you the person for them to contact at our dealership that should be able to set them straight.
I am in San Diego, CA and the San Diego Mercedes benz Dealer and the Sales and the Parts dept and the Service advisor all give me the run around. I have asked for the part and they say it doesnt exist and I ask to get the version coding upgrade info and they say they cant do it.
I found the Puck on ebay for 375.00 and I found out that it is the same as the BMW one if you buy the cable seperate.
I have a 2004 e320 with no cradle preinstalled and I have the analog teleaid as well. If I buy this from ebay or whoever and install it myself then all I have to do is take it to the dealer and have them turn on the teleaid phone function and the version coding, correct?
I cant understand why someone has not filed a complaint against the Mercedes benz dealers for being in colusion on this. They all say it is a 3000.00 upgrade.
Any other help on this would be great.
Thanks for this great forum........
After reading this thread, I bought the puck a few months ago and installed it myself. Yesterday, I finally found time to print out the PDF and the screenshot of the "Star Diagnositic" screen. I took both to my dealer for the version coding. Luckily I have a good service agent who works with me on stuff. They knew what to do once I explained that it was the same version coding that they would perform if they had installed the cradle and the V60....$115 and 30 minutes later, I was out the door with a functional bluetooth system.
I use a Blackberry 7130e, which is one of the phones that isn't on the "compatible phone" list. It works great. Aside from not downloading my address book, I am happy with it. Shout out to Benz-O-Rama for getting this discussion going years ago and pointing me in the direction of a good dealership (I am on my 3rd dealership
