Where to put Blackberry in W211?

Where do you guys with Blackberry phones keep them in the car?

I have a BB 8830 which is one of the largest models. Rattles around too much in the cup holders.

Just wanted to do an informal survey.

I keep mine in the belt pouch; why would you remove it from your pocket, belt, briefcase etc. Bluetooth connection is automatic.

I have the 8830 and the Curve; I had to switch to Curve to use a new laptop in tethered mode (also via bluetooth) for compatibility with Vista.

I don't want it in my pocket due to radiation.

I also need it somewhere where I can see who is calling because there are times when I don't want it paired up with the BT hands free system because it shows who is calling on the COMAND and I have people in the car I don't want to share that info with.

I have a Blackberry Pearl and I lay mine on its side - across the "closed" ashtray compartment. I have the silicone protective cover so it sticks to the wood pretty good when turing. Its not the ideal place, but it is visible when I am driving and easy to reach.

Look at www.proclipusa.com

Vehicle and phone specific holders. Put in your W211 info under "Vehicle Mounts" and see real photos of the 4 mounting areas in a W211. I have the console mount.

I had a Storm and it fit pretty good where the ashtray used to be (took it out and got a rubber mat instead). The annoying thing about that is that the light was always on. I have a Bold now and its a bit wider then the Storm so it doesn't fit into the place of the ashtray like the Storm did. I keep it in the cup holders. If it rattles around too much in the cupholders for you, you can take the cup holders out and have a pretty descent sized space. The down side is that you don't have any cup holders. Don't worry about the radiation that much, the Blackberry's don't emit a lot of it.

Get the Blackberry silicone skin for it, and leave it on the passenger seat. The silicone will keep it protected and also keep it firmly planted on the Nappa Leather seat it deserves(with the pulse function on of course). Ready at will, yet not mounted to you dash in one of those funky looking proclips or suction-cupped to the windshield.

Does that mean I am gonna grow a third ear??? What does the rating mean in the real world?

BTW, I rest my BB on top of the closed door over the folding cup holders, which I broke and took out to fit my morning Venti.

[QUOTE=Vik888;3303321]I don't want it in my pocket due to radiation.
QUOTE]

Natural UV radiation on hot sunny days or a leaky home microwave oven, or regularly eating food cooked and heated in a microwave oven, can cause more damage to humans than using a cell for several years (comparitively speaking). I am an RF engineer and have spent years building, using, testing high power transmitters and antennas (in the KW range) in the Long Wave to Microwave frequency range and no harm has come to me (unless my brains are fried and have not noticed it yet )

Non-ionizing radiation such as that emitted by cell phones, television and radio communication including microwave ovens, is very different from Ionizing radiation . Ionizing radiation is extraordinarily high in frequency (millions of trillions of cycles per second). It is, therefore, extremely powerful and penetrating. Even at low levels, ionizing radiation can damage the cells of living tissue. In fact, these dangerous rays, have enough energy and intensity to actually change (ionize) the molecular structure of matter. In sufficient doses, ionizing radiation can even cause genetic mutations. Ionizing range of frequencies includes X-rays, gamma rays, and cosmic rays. Ionizing radiation is the sort of radiation we associate with radioactive substances like uranium, radium, and the fall-out from atomic and thermonuclear. (Courtesy J. Carlton Gallawa)

The reason I mentioned leaky microwaves as a possible source for damage is because these are high power devices 800watts or more operating at around 2.45Ghz and the power levels cause molecules to vibrate which generate heat; we would not want to be exposed to that.

There Are these grip things that you can put on your daah that will grip any phone even when hitting corners fast.Working in cell phones, I know this cause we sell bunch of these. Its like a square mat that is like a sticky rubber.I put mine top left dash of my steering wheel in the corner. So when I drive I can see my blackberry light up if someone calls and reach it easily..Hope this helps

I like using the proclip in the car at times, but I just got the rubber tray mat for where the ashtray -- I think I'll put it there if I can.

I have the rubber mat and I really like to put my phone there but when I'm driving in the dark the light from that compartment drives me crazy. If anyone knows how to turn it off (if its even possible, short of removing the bulb) please let me know.

I agree with you there which is why I don't stand by the microwave when its on. If I have my BT earpiece sync'd with my phone, the interference from the microwave (and its a late model, fairly expensive model) can be heard on the BT ear piece even 10 feet away.

I used to use one of those Nokia bluetooth headsets that have caller ID on it (902)and bung the Bold in the armrest. Or I stick it in the steering height adjustment gap.

I was able to wire in a bury charging cradle (from wirelessground.com into my console box. It has an antenna extender that I ran up to the dash that really works. It's a tad too wide to fit against the back wall of the box so I re-routed the service-wrench-phone-helpme-button thingers so they live under the shifter. Too cold now, but when it warms up I'll fabricate a false wall that I can mount the cradle onto. I like it fine, it charges the phone while I drive and it is easy to get at when I want to check emails.

go to bestskinsever.com.. It's not what you think .

I put this skin on my pearl and you cannot tell it's there. It still goes into the holster as if it was not there (unlike those silicone skins which I hate). But, when I set it on the center console to the left or the shifter, it stays...even while breaking. It never moves.
