20" Wheels on E320 (Sport) or E500?
A guy tells me that you can put 20" wheels on a E320 sport or E500--only those with airmatic. He said you can put 20X8.5 in the front and 20X10 in the rear. He claims to be a maker of a forged 3-piece wheel and he can get the right offsets to make this happen. As proof he has give me the attached pic of an E500 slammed with 20" wheels. Is this guy full of it or is he legit? I hope I have attached the picture correctly.
OK those wheels are ugly IMO but hes right, you can fit 20x8.5 in the front, you can even fit 20x9 according to Peter from wheelexperts.
I have heard that with the Airmatic there is more room available for your larger tire used on a 20" application. I have also seen an E240 in indonesia with 20" lowenharts but I am not sure if it has airmatic or not.

Well okay heres the thing, if the rim has a lot of "face" then 19's are fine, one rim that i think would look great on an E is the Autocouture Magnifique, the 19's already look big.
Here is an example of 19's on the W210.

And heres a 20 on the W211, the chrome makes it a bit difficult to see how big the rim really is. Chrome on this rim is a bit much for me. I like the Silver machined finish.

Lowering
Yup i need to do a lot of lowering. Anyway do you know how to lower this new E model because they already use the airmatic suspension. we install chip or what? Do you know the progress?
There are electronic lowering modules available from brabus, lorinser, kleemann etc. But they cost around 2K.
another way to lower the airmatic equipped cars is with the RBtech or TWS lowrering components (actual Hardware). The TWS one is 500 i think, but you would need to bring your car to SoCal to have it done properly.

The first picture is a car that was lowered by The Wheel Supply using their TWS Lowering Kit. The car is on Collectizone 20" wheels.
The lowering is completely adjustable. That E class is probably dropped as low as it can go.

I called TWS and the module to lower the W211 with airmatic runs about $486 (including installation/labor) and that you could still adjust ride height after the installation of the module.
sf49ers79, if you want to get 20" wheels you can. If you want to sell me your 19" set let me know.

How much do you think that first car is lowered? 2/3 inches?
Can you raise it back up to stock height with the TWS kit? Thanks

That E class is dropped at least 2.5-3 inches, if not lower. The tire is touching the fender well.
You can still use the airmatic, which means you can raise the height of the car while driving. You keep the original OEM bracket, which they can install and return to the regular height.

Thanks a lot!
Using the Airmatic would put it up only about .6 to .75 of an inch I believe. I was wondering if they could set it upwhere it was a low as 2.5 dropped and you could raise it back up to stock or sport height...but I guess that would mean hydros.. =)

My experience, even tho I did not actually measure or do anything scientific, was that even tho the car is lowered 2-3 inches, using the airmatic will cause the car to rise back to normal height.
Again, I never actually used a ruler, but from my observation with my S430 which was lowered about 1.5", using the airmatic raised the car back to OEM height.
Just an observation...
