Top speed?
Now, what's going on here? Anyone know what the governed top speed is in an E350 with the AMG sport package? Apparently it's faster in Sport mode? I was confused and was wondering if anyone else knows what's up.
was the road level or perhaps up or down just a bit.
I lived in Germany and spend very much time at full trottle and got used to the fact that a car dors not have one top speed but many.It all depends on all of these examples{and many others} of forces that effects the end result.
Could also be the cars settings but I can not answer about that.

You'll have to try again and update. I find it hard to believe. Its the first I'm hearing of it anyway.
Regardless of that, top speed is electronically limited and I think all but actual AMG cars ("actual" doesn't include "AMG package" cars) will be either limited to 155 as they are in Germany or possibly less for the USA. Were yours a model (like the diesels for example) sold with H-rated tires, it would have been limited to 130.

It's weird I tell ya
The EURO CDI will get 152mph with the same setup.
I had mine Chipped and was wanting to get the limiter removed it did not happen.
I was slowly pondering letting my 82 Jaguar xj-s 12 go,but then again its nice to have a car with no limited that can still get on the right side of 150.{the car is mildly improved.}
As I stated previously found that at top speed it takes very little variation from optimal conditions to reduce topspeed noticably.Just do the math for wind resistance at 130mph.
It would be nice with a few good fast legal roads in this country.
That said Americans are not yet ready for no speedlimit. No offence
I just found it more dangerous to do 70 on a freeway here than 130 in Germany.

I do bel. AMG offers a "performance option" for $10,000 where the limit is upped to 155mph and some other useless items for that price - not sure exactly which models.
Also note that by law "speedometer advance" is built in to German speedos, meaning they MUST never read lower than actual speed and most often read higher. The usual number is 10% higher, and obviously the actual number varies with speed. So, at actual 130 the speedo could easily read 130 + 13 = 143.
And by making it read faster, does it mess with the odometer, too?
And by making it read faster, does it mess with the odometer, too? This is my understanding also.
As far as the speedometer reading faster than you are going on just about every car that I have owned from the out set of GPS "15 years", Yes most are off by no more than 3 mph so 63mph is 60mph, but my CDI is on the money.
I believe it has more to do with tire size than anything else.
On my last car I had 225-55-16 as my Benz but the different tires had different diameters for the same size tires.
I know a person that has a 05 CDI and has told me that he can go
over 130 mph, I have no reason to not to believe him.
I just know most MB owners are limited to set speeds and you are
a lucky one that is not, Be Happy even if you never use it you still
have it.

As well the speed and load index for the 350 is 95Hthis was the so called "gentleman's agreement" between numerous european car manufacturers. i think some japanese ones as well
my car with the appearance "sport" package originally comes with W tires, when i bought it it came with H tires, and now I have W tires again

Remember, a F1 car does about 315 km/h max today! Sense and nonsense to even have your car at 250 km/h in the US is debatable with a legal speed limit of max 75 mph.

If I were you, I would verify it by your GPS next time you go for a high speed run.
