Oh, also, I took up 4 parking spots at once while I was at the local supermarket.

Very nice! I was considering doing something like that but with a custom built box and two ////Alpine 12" X-Type subwoofers, a 2400-watt Alpine amplifier, housed in a box that is made of the same Birdseye Maple burl as the inside of my car, and backlit as well.

For the record since new ONE major repair between every oil change and this is just keeping us on track with another major repair at 120,000 miles.
New starter wasnt way bad only $700 installed. Just pull belly pan, remove bolts holding engine mounts, jack engine, remove mounts, remove exhaust remove starter.

Now on and upward new brakes, pads rotors, bearings Fun.. can't wait to jack it up.

Actually, it only hangs below the deck 6". It looks like more from the angle I shot at.

The problem with the shallow mount sub was two-fold.
1) Few free-air shallow subs available since the main point of a shallow sub is mounting in thin boxes with smaller air volume. The few that are available, are pretty pricey.
2) The numbers on those shallow subs in a free-air set-up are not as good as the full sized sub. The Kicker we used is thinner than many, and still made really good numbers and solid, tight, bass. Especially for the price.

Thanks, by the way. I'm really happy with the results.

After washing the car by hand, waxing the car, and detailing the outside, today I vacuumed and steam-cleaned the carpets, mats, and trunk and it came out perfectly. Then I conditioned and cleaned all of the leather, cleaned the wood trim, and all controls/buttons/screen et cetra. Also, I was able to remove the remaining part of my anti-glare coating on the COMAND screen that made it look horrible, originally destroyed by MONSTER cleaner - which is what I used to take the remaining off. Looks a LOT better. Then I cleaned all windows so there was no residue left behind by the cleaner, so I went over it twice. I can now say my 3 day detailing is over and the car is SPOTLESS.

Anyway Otto, I love bass as well and although I only have it up three notches on my stock system, I am having an issue. I know this should probably be in a separate thread, but I though it would be a good time to ask - here. I usually listen to classic rock, but because I live in a world of teenagers now dominated by rap and hip-hop and friends often want me to play these songs, which I normally don't "like" but have gotten used to - but I do love bass and a few have good beats. When I play 99% of songs I have no rattles, and the sound is SUPER clear and amazing on the Logic 7 - but I have stumbled across an issue. At certain frequencies and bass levels (a good example is A Milli by Lil' Wayne, a horrible song but a prime example) I have a rattle coming from the back. I have isolated this as the separate part of the rear deck-lid right in the center of it - you know, that raised area behind the rear headrests that looks to be a separate part from the surrounding area. I found that if I put only the slightest bit of pressure on that piece (with my hand) the rattle goes away completely. How do I solve this and make sure that I don't have this rattle? Any ideas?

We probably went over-board with worrying about rattling. But with the sub firing directly up into the rear deck trim panel it moves that thing a LOT. If you watch the panel when the sub really works you can see it jumping around. If putting pressure on the panel stops the rattle then you have to either tighten the fit so that the movement is stopped. Or dampen it out so that the vibration is killed off. I think the latter is an easier fix.

What my installer wound up doing was not only applying dynamat to the steel deck around the sub and completely covering the steel panel as much as possible. (making sure all the holes are covered) He also covered as much of the bottom side of the deck trim panel as possible. It took a lot of time to piece it in so that there was no clearance problems but with as much coverage as possible. He used 1/4" dynamat on the steel deck and 1/8" on the bottom of the trim panel. He figures he put a few pounds of dynamat in the deck area.

But the dynamat and all the work seems to have paid off as the install is rattle free.

Almost forgot what I did for my W2111 this week.

I took a road trip and killed every bug in North Texas with my car. When I got home I did a full wash and wax but this time I also clay barred the wheels to remove all the embedded brake dust and applied a wheel specific glaze to protect them from brake dust and road grime.

They turned out amazingly good. It's a lot of work, but the AMG wheels really came alive.

And the glaze I used.

That makes sense logically, and glad to know I'm not the only one who has a lot of movement with that piece I think I'll try to tighten that up a bit if I can. Awesome job on your wheels!

still looking. I have a few choices, but I'm sort of indecisive so I'm holding out until I'm absolutely sure.

That you Gunnar! That means quite a bit to me as I spent 3 full days detailing every part of the car and even steam-cleaning the carpets - it looks brand new you wouldn't believe.

If I may recommend (if you have your own preferred wax I understand) but either Liquid Glass for car colors other than black (it's hard to find, I think they replaced it with a newer brand) or the TurtleWax BlackBox for any black vehicles you own works wonders. The latter does an excellent job of filling in any chips or inconsistencies in the paint and makes it look almost as if I could put my hand through it.

Good luck to you!

Who did the transmission flush? I know a lot of places that do engine and transmission flushes and that will actually damage components and is NOT recommended by MB. It is essentially a scam and possibly damaging if done improperly or with the wrong compounds.

Where were you able to get the transmission software? Does it help with the tiptronic shifting speed? I think normal shifts are fine - I'm no expert - but as with a lot of manumatic systems I feel like the tiptronic feature could be a lot sharper.

I did it my self, with the MB procedure and 14 quarts of MB Trans fluid.
