What did you do for your W211 today?
killing me
When engaging the firewheel all was normal with no gear issues only after it kicked and spinning down could you hear the whine.
For the record since new ONE major repair between every oil change and this is just keeping us on track with another major repair at 120,000 miles.

Now on and upward new brakes, pads rotors, bearings Fun.. can't wait to jack it up.
The problem with the shallow mount sub was two-fold.
1) Few free-air shallow subs available since the main point of a shallow sub is mounting in thin boxes with smaller air volume. The few that are available, are pretty pricey.
2) The numbers on those shallow subs in a free-air set-up are not as good as the full sized sub. The Kicker we used is thinner than many, and still made really good numbers and solid, tight, bass. Especially for the price.
Thanks, by the way. I'm really happy with the results.

Anyway Otto, I love bass as well and although I only have it up three notches on my stock system, I am having an issue. I know this should probably be in a separate thread, but I though it would be a good time to ask - here. I usually listen to classic rock, but because I live in a world of teenagers now dominated by rap and hip-hop and friends often want me to play these songs, which I normally don't "like" but have gotten used to - but I do love bass and a few have good beats. When I play 99% of songs I have no rattles, and the sound is SUPER clear and amazing on the Logic 7 - but I have stumbled across an issue. At certain frequencies and bass levels (a good example is A Milli by Lil' Wayne, a horrible song but a prime example) I have a rattle coming from the back. I have isolated this as the separate part of the rear deck-lid right in the center of it - you know, that raised area behind the rear headrests that looks to be a separate part from the surrounding area. I found that if I put only the slightest bit of pressure on that piece (with my hand) the rattle goes away completely. How do I solve this and make sure that I don't have this rattle? Any ideas?

The Best of Mercedes & AMG
What my installer wound up doing was not only applying dynamat to the steel deck around the sub and completely covering the steel panel as much as possible. (making sure all the holes are covered) He also covered as much of the bottom side of the deck trim panel as possible. It took a lot of time to piece it in so that there was no clearance problems but with as much coverage as possible. He used 1/4" dynamat on the steel deck and 1/8" on the bottom of the trim panel. He figures he put a few pounds of dynamat in the deck area.
But the dynamat and all the work seems to have paid off as the install is rattle free.
I took a road trip and killed every bug in North Texas with my car. When I got home I did a full wash and wax but this time I also clay barred the wheels to remove all the embedded brake dust and applied a wheel specific glaze to protect them from brake dust and road grime.
They turned out amazingly good. It's a lot of work, but the AMG wheels really came alive.

And the glaze I used.

If I may recommend (if you have your own preferred wax I understand) but either Liquid Glass for car colors other than black (it's hard to find, I think they replaced it with a newer brand) or the TurtleWax BlackBox for any black vehicles you own works wonders. The latter does an excellent job of filling in any chips or inconsistencies in the paint and makes it look almost as if I could put my hand through it.
Good luck to you!
