Thats great to hear!! But we need the rest of the car to hold up at least 100k miles. Sure these engines will outlive the rest of the car (using MB1 oil).

That's what the guys said too. The motor will last longer than one wants to hold the entire car. Not me though. I'll keep mine til death do us apart

Of course its going to be clean. They ran it non stop pretty much for 1,000,000 kilometers... and changed the oil when they were supposed to.

sweet so the engine will last over 600k miles, I wonder how many times the the airmatic, SBC, and other parts needs to be replaced lol. Ahh, if only MB went with normal coilovers with quality shocks like Ohlins or something instead of airmatic the reliability would be much much higher.

Right on. If the brakes (SBC) and air suspension, (rear air springs, shocks, compressor, front strut, relays and so on) ........ would not be there to fail as on my Corvette I would be a happy camper.

But I am really fed up with buying a MB for reliability and having all the other stuff fall apart.

But then what do I know I am only a Customer.

Yep, they have performed these test before, back in the day (before 100K miles became the norm) they did a test on a NYC taxi for over 100k miles and the engine was in excellent condition. 1 million is impressive, but i did notice that it was simulator miles, which could be mostly just highway speeds which is low stress and not a lot of cold starts, idling, AC on, etc..., they also mentioned oil and filter changes every 13K miles....

A few years ago a Greek drove some 3 million km with his W211. MB took this car from him and placed it into the MB museum in Stuttgart and gave him a brand new one loaded with options. It was big in the German news back then.

2007 E320 CDI Bluetec
I'M KEEPING FINGERS CROSSED

Bought '07 Bluetec on 11 AUG 2011 as 2nd car, for trips, and weekends .. figure to do only 5K miles per yr so i can keep it longtime. Had 53.6K miles when bought ... now has 55.4K miles...now the driveshaft center bearing ( under center console storage box ) has to be replaced ($600). The 7-G trans is bumping hard going back into 1st gear..but goes away after trans warms up. Maybe colder North East weather is having an effect..will see.

Now ( good news ) I find the car has a 1000W auxiliary electric heater on the interior heater water supply line, for fast hot air in cold weather. Nice to have, but something else to worry about going off song.

Always wanted a Benz .. they used to be ( pre Lexus/Infiniti) not so complicated....Now ? JezzMarizze !!. I figure to NOT use a lot of the E Class luxury stuff ... leave it alone ... but that only helps so much.

HAH...my other car ... '01 Volvo V-40 ( 148,000 miles and doing fine : ) had to have the glass sunroof replaced ( 4 years ago ... $850) when it started to leak. I NEVER used it, so the motor would not burn out....did'nt really matter did it?? ...go figure.

This is so far the record holder for Mercedes vehicle; of course he used few spare engines.

There is a guy in New York approaching 3 million miles, but on Volvo. He also put close to 500 000 on another one that Volvo gave him.
