URGENT: NHTSA Opens investigation into fuel leaks on the W211 E Class

Day 8, still waiting. I still have no clue if they'll honor the PZEV warranty. Good thing they gave me a free 2013 C250 loaner car. However, this waiting is getting old. BMW, Infiniti & Honda are starting to look real good. Still not sure why it's taken 8 days to reach a decision on THEIR warranty.
Mercedes Benz Corporate is probably concerned about Paying this claim as a PZEV warranty, They are worried about opening the flood gates of claims and lawsuits.. If the dealer was smart they would fix this issue as a goodwill warranty and be done with it. However smart they are not.
They will not be happy till they **** Off another Customer.
Its all about Profits NOT customer Safety:

2007 Mercedes E350
I bought my 2007 MB E 350 V6 a year ago and have been smelling gas inside the car for about 3-4 days after I fill up. Same situation where the smell's stronger in the back seat. It's been bothering me because my 2 year old daughter sits in the back seat and I have another daughter on the way in March. The only problem is I just passed 80k miles about 2 weeks ago. Damn! Wonder if I'm s.o.l?

Could someone help me out by telling me if my sister in laws 2006 USA Spec E350 sedan is PZEV? Removing the seat and fuel pump cover today showed her car was no exception to the fuel leak from the top of the tank. Here is the vin number WDBUF56J36A957446

^ I'm the one with the PZEV E350 at the Calabasas dealership. I called and got MBUSA involved. I have a case manager now too. From what my case manager said, the dealer did contact the MBUSA warranty department. They are still waiting to hear back. Tomorrow will be 14 days without my car. My case manager did say, from what she sees, the PZEV warranty should cover my car. To be continued......

So wait do all Mercedes potentially come with this PZEV warranty if it is indicated on the data car, and do they only honor this in the State of California because of their strict emissions laws?

'04 E320 base trim. I started smelling fuel whenever I topped off the tank. It would go on for a few days and when parked, I could especially smell it around the back of the car. Took it to my mechanic who said the code for Purge Valve came up. He suggested replacing the filter only and see what happens. I have only topped off the car once since this was done and so far I don't smell anything. However, Murphy's Law tells me that as soon as I get in my car after typing this post, I'll smell it!
We also have an '04 E320 4Matic Wagon that my wife drives. I will ask her tonight if she smells anything after a fill up.
This is disturbing as our toddler rides in the right rear seat of both cars daily, and we all know which side that gas filler is at.

I just bought a 2005 E320 with a little over 32,000 miles. I did notice a smell of gas after a fill-up. After reading these posts, I filed as well. "Your Confirmation number (ODI Number) is: 10562603." Are there any more updates?

I had the dealer give me a list of everything ever done to my car under warranty and sure enough it one of the many things replaced under warranty at 33k miles was the entire fuel tank. But they couldn't tell me why they replaced it. It just showed that they did.

Well, 21 days, I finally got my car back today. :-) It was repaired free under the PZEV warranty. :-) I even got a full tank of gas. :-) Later tonight or tomorrow I’ll provide details on what work was done. At work now, left the paperwork in my car. But happy to report, it was free……..!
