airmatic to coil over conversion?
So passenger front right went out today, Im talking about the airmatic shocks. went to my indy and asked why did they not see this doing the post inspection.
he states that sometimes these things just go out and that it happens quite often.
here is what i have decided, i have decided to do the coil over conversion all around. with
Mercedes E Class (E500) Suspension Parts & Kits | Strutmasters.com
for $1600 for front and rear with lifetime, you can't beat it and as for as I'm concerned, that's just another issue off my list and more money going towards my girls inner/ext mods.
what do you guys think?
My mercedes indy told me before he retired from mercedes, this is the company they would get all the conversion kits from and sell at a heap load of profit. and the rep from this company also confirms this.
you make a point,
1- coil over = no airmatic problems ever
2- refurb = keep all original like equipment and warranty for life (meaning dont ever buy them again, just send them in and have them replaced free? WINNER..........
okay looked onto their website and wondering which to get, cant understand the site actually, sorry folks..... also where are the discount codes on the site and am i still doing a $200 core change for each side?

I'd say you are looking at around $1000 in parts without the compressor. I don't know about Arnott when it comes to W211 struts/air springs, but on my friend's Audi Allroad, they lasted 50k miles. However, they do offer a lifetime warranty. On a labor side, I'd say you are looking at 3-5hrs on each side.
To OP, why would you take a car that was designed to function with Airmatic and throw on some off the shelf coil over set-up? Really beats the purpose of buying a car with Airmatic if you ask me. Are you going to lose firmness settings with a regular coil over set-up? Yes. Are you going to lose height selection? Yes. Is your car going to be worth less? You bet.

thanks
That would be my guess, that they are stiffer or tuned for an AMG but this thread says otherwise.
