W211 Starter does not turn: Intermittent
My E55 has been doing this for a year now. And it is becoming more frequent.
I just replaced the starter and the issue still continues.
Turn the key & you hear the starter engage but no crank. Cycle the key a few times & it eventually start. I have found a lot of threads about it but no fixes.
Any help is greatly appreciated

This tech article has some good info on the starter and its issues. Check over the work you did and make sure everything was installed correctly. Just a thought, have you tested the battery? Although your engine provides power to make the vehicle move it still needs an electric starter motor to turn the engine until it runs on its own. Does it sound like it's trying to start, but just isn't getting enough juice to start completely? Can check out this tech article for more info about the battery.

Check your fuse value!
Procedure for Model 211
1. Perform a visual inspection of the Driver SAM (N10/1) and determine which fuse is installed in socket 59 (Figure 2, arrow). Consult STAR Finder for more information on the location of this fuse (10/1f59).
2. Replace the currently installed 15 Amp fuse with the 20 Amp fuse specified in this DTB.
3. Record the fuse rating change on the vehicle’s Fuse Chart.
