OK thank you I have tried both of the internal mic of the unit and the OEM Mike of the car and two extra mics and they all have the same issues. I think I've seen that hardware mod on there before and it require soldering. Hmmm, maybe I can get someone to do it for me

I already PMed a couple of guys from this thread and thought will post this question to everyone too.
Saw this online while doing a bunch of research -
http://www.seicane.com/seicane-s1275...-camera-usb-sd

They seem to offer a $129 item that allows use of original amp. Any thoughts on this head unit?

For $129 just install an after market amp, and sell all your old HK amps. Aftermarket sounds much better too.

The seller replied very promptly as well and confirmed this seicane brand one fits the 2009 cls550 and that this $129 unit will allow use of factory amp instead of bypassing it with the 6ft cable.
so i am not really sure if this is a new amp or something that allows to connect to the factory amp and provide enough juice to power it.

Anyone here tried this on a 2009 CLS? I have been trying to remove the woodpanel around the gear shift and it will not budge. I have seen the w211 dash removal videos on youtube and they all show just pulling on the front of the panel is pop it out and then it just needs to pulled out to release the rear clips.
I have pulled with all my strength and cant get it to move at all. Any suggestions or advice will help.

Click on "show content".
Then look for "Mic sound is awful"

I found first remove leather cover around gearshift knob.
Inside you can see clips towards the front, left and right. Try releasing them with screw driver and pull up panel at front.

See the Settings-> About screen. It'll say which model in one of the text strings. All info that's needed is in the first post of that huge XDA thread.

I had mine installed. Couldn't be happier with everything from the phone, BT audio and navi. I'm struggling with the Torque feature. I purchased the ELM327 but Can someone provide some info on how to set it up on the HU.

Damn that probably means there's a problem with my individual unit's Bluetooth. Looks like you have the same unit I do.

Can you send me which dealer you bought the unit from? The link please?

ELM adapter may not be working, because the stock rom only works if ELM has a specific device name. Upgrade to the modified Rom and it should then work. See the first page of that huge XDA thread and you will find instructions. Good luck.

Would you guys mind seeing what your model says in regards to this I would like to compare it to mine.

If we all have the same model then maybe my unit was not installed correctly or perhaps there's interference with the new amplifier and it's wires? I'm a totally a layman when it comes to this so I paid somebody a significant amount of money to do the install

I had distortion in the front channels of my unit. I switched to using the rear channel to power both front and rear speakers, and now the problem is gone.

Either rca line is pinched, or head unit front pre-am is is bad. Works just fine for me because I just adjust front/rear on the amp.

After installing this unit. I never could get my Steering Wheel Controls to work. Re-checked installation and swapped CANbus decoder box with no luck. Do you think that ROM update may help?

Bluetooth MIC on my unit sounds crappy as well...

Are you thinking about soldering to fix it?

Keep in mind my car is pre facelift 2006, yours might be slightly different.

Awesome thread - excited about this...but have a few questions:

- How does audio sound if bypassing the stock HK amp through the cable they provide?

- Anyone have luck getting that other cable which allows you to use stock HK amp?

- Does the basic install require any wire cutting or splicing? Want to make sure its 100% reversible.

Thanks

Sound is quite good. Had no HK amp, just a normal AMP at the back.
Havent tried the special HK cable.
No cutting or splicing required for radio installation.
Only needed that when hooking up power for reverse cam to reverse light.
