G Unit

Whilst collecting our car, I found quite a smart looking E320 with AMG Styling Kit, upon closer inspection I also noticed it had AMG tips put on, haven't seen that done on a non AMG before, even ones with the AMG styling kit.
Just thought it might interest some people here who are contemplating having it done to theirs.

The exhaust tips are part of the AMG Sport package which began production in April.

In the US, to get LED lights, you must order Appearance Package. In order to get LED and blue tinted glass, the front black grille slats and a pair of AMG tips, you need to order both the appearance and AMG packages together. That's my understanding anyway

Note that G Unit is in the UK, not the US. There are likely slight differences in the packages in the two countries given the different trim levels offered.

Strange, because that E Class was registered August 2003. It does look pretty good though, previously on the AMG Sport pack in the UK, all you got was front and rear bumper, side skirts and alloys. I haven't heard of the Appearance package though.

The car has probably been sat there for a couple of months, you should have seen the bodywork, I ran my finger over and there was about a 2mm layer of dust!

In Europe/Asia, there are three trim lines: Classic, Elegance and Avantgarde. The Classic is the lowest line, and are usually used as taxis. The elegance is what is being offered in the US (non-sport). The Avantgarde is the Sport/Appearance package in the US (LED tails, birds eye maple wood trim, white gauges, 17" wheels and stuff like grille with 5 louvers and blue tinted glass etc.).

So on the black E320 that G Unit posted, it's the AVANTGARDE (sport in US) with the AMG package.

On NATS64's tectite grey E500, it's an ELEGANCE (non-sport in US) with the AMG package.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

My brother, who works for MBUSA, tells me that there will be an AMG package for the E320. Supposedly, it will look exactly like the E55, without the mechanicals, of course!

He is supposed to have one by July.

I actually have that exact exhaust sitting in the back room . I ordered it sometime ago for my friends E500 , but when it arrived he decided that he wanted the quad tiped one from AMG instead.

Someone must own it?? The vehicle is on a '53' plate which means it is obviously registered and CANNOT be any newer than the last day of February 04. Because of build dates the vehicle is almost certainly an 03 build.

In the UK the AMG package for the 211 has always been available (although that does not include the E200 Kompressor and E220CDI) The exhaust tips are not included with the E270CDI or 320CDI.

I think the dirt on the exhaust helps illustrate that the car is indeed owned by 'someone'. It could be that it belongs to the garage as a demonstrator or indeed the Managing Directors own vehicle.

Nice option.

Ill clarify, it is not owned by anyone. It was used as a Mercedes company car for a certain period of time and then they sell it on to the public, Mercedes Direct are Mercedes themselves, not a dealer. All the cars in that court are Mercedes company cars that have been used for anything between 1month to a year which they then sell on.

Who knows, it may be sold to someone by now.
