the switch is auto so as you drive it should work... what you will notice is rpms going higher therefore staying in power band longer

Actually in S it changes the shift points a little and also starts in first gear instead of 2nd as in C. Strange though all my previous MB E Classes defaulted to S and the W212 defaults to C on start up.

they changed that for all mbs for 2010 (don't know about amgs). to many people complaining of rought 2 to 1 gear change on 7 speed tranny. So, why didn't they just give us a 6 speed tranny lol. before it would store in memory what your last configuration was from shut down.

Gas mileage is pretty much the same from what i've seen.

You will not notice a big difference on the highway. The most important change is it starts in first gear instead of second. It also raises the shift points/holds gears longer (the button has nothing to do with the suspension, it is totally tranny related). C mode should yield a small improvement in gas mileage.

That being said, I have to say they did an UNBELIEVABLE job setting up the program on this tranny. Hit a corner hard and jab the throttle and before you know it the car is screaming, it begs you to push it harder. It takes good minute or two after you beat on it and relax before the car finally accepts it and goes back to normal shifting (I really think the car feels let down )

E550 Coupe
In the 550 coupe, all of the above happens but it also stiffens the suspension. The 350 Coupe is a transmission only change. They have some fancy equation that describes the difference between comfort and sport suspension. From the driver's seat it feels stiffer with less rebound. Does the same apply to the sedans?

No, the sedan has a different switch to change the suspension (E550's and E63's only)

i honestly think when pushing the sport mode on my coupe it transforms the car i love it.. but i tend to drive the car more in comfort mode as sport mode makes me wanna speed more ... also can someone tell me if driving in sport mode at all times can be bad for the car ??

I actually read in the manual that you should not switch while driving. They did put it there so I not sure what the consequences would be?
