Thinking of joining the MB Club - used 2010 E550?
So, what should I know about this vehicle? Have there been any particular issues or areas of concern that I should have checked out before buying? Any reason to be worried about the airmatic suspension, or any of the electronics such as Navi, Bluetooth, or Sound System. I will have approximately 20,000 miles and 2 years of factory warranty left.
I beleive the car will need new front brakes as there is a good bit of vibration from the front brakes. Not sure if the rotors are warped or not. And, unfortunately, the front of the hood does have a few too many stone chips (small ones to be sure, but they are really apparent on a black car) .
I am planning on having a dealer look over the car before making a final decision.
How is the gas mileage? While I realize that there is a price to be paid for the V8, I am hoping it isn't too awful.
And, what about pricing for the car? I believe I can settle on it for about $49,000, if not a bit less. Is that a market deal?
Thanks in advance for any and all advice. I look forward to become an active member of this forum.

Now the question is: is it worth saving $10K (vs. last year's price) but getting a "well traveled" 2 year old car? For me - a definate no. However, if price of admition is of paramount importance, then its worth considering.
And, any thoughts on the other questions I raised?

Read what OP car's description is and what I said - one could have bought a brand new 2010 E550 at the end of 2011 @ at least $12K off.
There's obsolutely no way you can get a 2012 E550 (much more limited than E350) at the end of 2011 for anywhere close to that. Having said that, it was posted many times recently of as much as $5K off ( or about 7%) 2012 E350 now, depending on location.

The Best of Mercedes & AMG
I have a 2004 E500. 110k miles on it. My Airmatic front shocks went out at around 80k miles. Not hundreds to repair. Thousands $$!! I swore I would never buy another Mercedes. (I actually bought the Arnott Shocks for much cheaper).
So, years later, the only major repair I've had done were those front shocks. So I am now considering a 2010 E550 with RWD. Loaded with low miles.
My main two concerns:
1. Little warranty left! Would have to get extended or aftermarket for $3k! But after those shocks, need a warranty for this car.
2. New Facelift coming out in 2013. If you research this, you will see on the web a pretty different looking car coming out in 2013. I believe Mercedes confirmed this. I know it doesn't bother some people, but I am having trouble on deciding to spend $45k or so on a car that will be outdated so quickly (looks-wise).
Any thoughts be anybody on #2 above? Still saving $20k over an A7 though. I love that new A7! And has AWD and a big hatchback. But 20k premium or more.

A7 is a cool car better looking than A6 but I dislike hatcbacks but you know everyone is entitled to their oopppss I mean opinion lol
And the 2012 Mercedes are getting better mileage now with Direct Injection.
So that is my conundrum, save thousands on a 2010, vs. less warranty, less mpg and lesser time with the new body style...
Anyway, I digress.
I, too, never liked hatchbacks. But, as I grow older with a kid that plays sports, my tastes start to change. I thought the Panamera was butt ugly, at first. But then it grew into the perfect car - hatchback utility, AWD!, insane interior, and nothing can touch the turbo. Still a bit ugly on the outside - but kind of like when the ugly girl starts to look pretty because of her strange look.
I went to look at them used, and still ridiculously priced. But the Porsche dealership was next to the Audi dealership and they had the A7 outside. So the A7 was a brand new cheaper alternative to the Panamera, with AWD and 28 mpg and a utilitarian hatch (but only a 4 seater).
But still, the A7 is $20k + more than the 2010 E550. Leaning towards the 10 E550...
I don't think you would be disappointed at your '10 E550 . I also believe that A7 should be compared to CLS .
BTW, E should be holding its value better than Audi does
I must respectfully disagree on comparing the A7 to the CLS. I can get a pretty loaded Prestige A7 for $65k ($69k MSRP).
Compare that to the equivalently loaded CLS... (which is also an 8 cylinder). $$$$$$
My E550 only had 3,000 miles (yes, only 3000 miles!!!) on it and I got the star certified which got me bumper to bumper for over 2 years and powertrain for an additional 2 years after that.
I think you can get a better deal...
As a side note, I am absolutely in love with my 550. I tried the A6 and A7 but fell in love with the Mercedes. Get one...you will love it!

2. New car prices are going up because of a back log of "demand."
3. If gas/mpg is a consideration, it is going higher and going to stay there for a long time. M-B requires premium.

?! you lucked out! congrats
