If you ever manage to figure out the speed signal issue, and you wanted a break in London (or were around there anyway), I'd be more then happy to cover everything (& time) to bring you over and help me mod my CLS! There are not too many people out there with your modding & coding skills! Appreciate your probably very busy but know the invitation is open and London only 2 hours away 
Its a real pity your facing this hurdle on the speed signal, it seems unlikely the existing sensor is incompatible with NTG5.1 interface but have you managed to compare part numbers/spec from 2016 EClass to 2010 EClass to see if speed signal sensor is the same?
In relation to getting maps & unit to code correctly, do you need full Xentry/Star tools or is there anyway to code without that equipment through the inbuilt engineering menu or similar?

It works if the screen fits and I guess it should fit if W204 didnt have a uniqe screen bac then. Still the speed signal problem. But if you dont use navigation you are good. I have 2 units laying around without navigation. They use navi on a SD card instead of built in.
But, because the Pre FL Pops up, is this supposed to just fit in there? The physical Button on the ArmRest is completely different from the Pre FL to this one...how would any of that work?
Don't I also need the panel that goes onto the Dash where it has the numbers "1-9", "DISC", "RADIO", and all those other buttons?
I assume it'd require some modification?

The buttons on the dash (disc/radio/numbers) are part of the COMAND NTG 5.1, the head unit that gets swapped in, as Chris said, you need to update the armrest control COMAND control. Provided the newer controller for FL models fits in same slot, should be easily swappable. Chassis and dash should not have changed on FL models. Look at earlier in the thread, Chris posted new joystick he had to install
The W207, Pre FL, has the same button as I do on the W204. However, when it was Face-lifted, the center console came with the 5-Button piece that Chris posted.
However, on the W204, both Pre FL and FL use the same 3-Button piece, thus, it won't fit properly for the W204.

I'm not sure what chain of controllers/sensors feed speed data and might be incompatible with the transplanted NTG 5s1 unit but you may be able to verify all the parts are the same and therefore it has to be a configuration/coding issue instead of a hardware/component one?

Camera probebly is because SAM cant see the pdc after I installed the new SAM so eighter its coding or a canbus/LIN cable that needs to be moved.

COuld you just tell me what is needed to do programing on this unit ? (hardware and software) I changed my command for a used one (mine died) and i am strugling with the anti thief protection... (however i have the code)

very impressed chris... ive been debating on the 8 inch comand screen and NTG5 upgrade for my w218 cls63 for some time now. ive compared new w218s and seem that hardware should be modular but the programming will be a pain.. looking forward to your solution.

So!! Heres where I am now...
2010-2012 W212/W207:
You need new ESP.
This is possible IF you DONT have parametric steering and NO distronic!
If you have that it is impossible to make it work since speed signal is encryped.
So ALL works but navigation. You can do carplay and run navi from phone though.
2012-2015 W212/W207:
Your in luck!
All works fine since it has a totally different esp than 2010-2012.
W218:
Your in luck!
All works fine since it has a totally different esp than w212.
So go for it if you have a CLS.
2010-2012 W212/W207:
You need new ESP.

I'm capable of completing the swap and re wiring required. But how does one get the activation code and map code required? I have access to vendiamo vis sds kit my friend has. Do you have instructures for that?
