I'm revisiting the thread since I first watched it in 2017.
I have a 2013 facelift W207 E500 with the NTG4.7.
What do I need to upgrade the comand sytem to NTG5S1 ?
Thanks for the help

5s1/5.1 Comand is always compatible with CP and AA and the Audio20 5s1/5.1 is compatible as well, except some HW's.
5s1 can be installed on w204 with a CAN Bridge and some 3D printed grille.

Following my recent purchase of the 2016 W212 E350, this thread learned me I was lucky enough with the NTG5.1.
After confirming I add the Carplay volume setting in the engineering menu, I had to choose between 3 options:
1) the DYI route following the instructions =>
2) the Belarus route with Vlad's dongle that seemed reliable but damn expensive as F.! => https://www.ebay.com/itm/262451909947
3) the alternate cheaper route with remote coding from this British company: https://mbcoders.co.uk/ relying on a similar process than the DYI except they remote access to your laptop connected to your car and do their stuff.
I ended up choosing the latest and I thought I will give you a feedback of my experience:
Price was $125 and with the addition of the data cable, the total cost was $140, less than half what Vlad's dongle costs including shipping.
Plus, I placed order online on Monday, bought the cable from Amazon the same day, received it on Tuesday, set an appointment on Whatapps for this morning and voilà! No 3 weeks+ delay, no customs headache...
I just had to download some packages ahead of the d-day (DTS Monaco, configuration files, Anydesk for the remote access) and assuming you have a good wifi next to where the car is parked, the technician remote accessed to my laptop, installed and configured everything in roughly 40 min. 3 reboots later: boom! Android Auto and Carplay!
I side ordered a wireless carplay dongle and was able to immediately get Wireless Carplay, connecting in 5 secs in a 10 years old MB!
Smooth experience and happy customer!
I didn't know that company prior purchasing my first Mercedes but working in IT, remote access made total sense to me and decided to go that route, after checking how serious these guys were. And they are...
