Another ILS unicorn added to the herd

Just wanted to let everyone know that there was another successful ILS installation. In this case, to my US spec 2016 S212. Thanks Vladimir!

That's awesome, so far it seems that all of you with LED's seem happy with the results. I anxiously await to here how it goes for the pre-facelift vehicles with xenons.

This 4K night time video shows a pre-facelift European specd Bi-Xenon W212 with ILS + Speed Limit Assist + Keep Lane Assist in action:
Note top right corner split screen during the drive to see the real time changes on the instrument cluster. The video should give you an idea of what to expect if you get ILS installed with your xenons.

Thanks, that is awesome, My car does most of that already, without the speed limit and the blacking out of vehicles in front. When I turn the wheel my cornering lights come on and my Auto high beams work just like that. Also my headlights tun on corners in the road. The car in the video also has all of the icons I get when driving, but I noticed the lane keep doesn't light up green like mine does, the blue parking light at the bottom is the same though, mine comes on at speeds under 20 and goes off at just under 30 like in the video. I have the coffee cup as well.

I believe the ability to mask individual cars - essentially wrapping light around them - started with the LED lights and was not an ability that the HID setup had. That is the main party trick and so I am not sure I would pay to activate the feature on the pre-facelift.

My 2014 W204 had HID ILS and it already adjusted range and stuff without any added coding.

Another successful install. Just installed ILS, AMG Screen, and Fuel Guage. All work as expected!

3) Plug the tuneOBD module into the diagnostic port. See images for location.

4) Once your COMMAND screen changes, use << >> buttons by the volume knob or your COMMAND controller (the latter may or may not work) to select the option "Step1:Save Backup to LOGFILE" on the screen. Select it with the "ON" button by the volume knob.

5) Wait until you see "Remove the module now!!!" Remove the module.

6) Plug the module back in to the diagnostic port. Wait until your command screen changes. Again use << >> buttons until you see "Activation SA628 On/Revert". Select it with the volume knob.

7) Wait until you receive one of two messages:

A) "Succesful SA628 On 1" - You have successfuly activated the Intelligent Light System. REMOVE THE MODULE. Look in your "Lighting" menu to confirm the presence of the ILS On/Off option. Turn it on and test during a night test drive. Note that to test to adaptive highbeam functionality you must have the light switch in "Auto" and the left stalk depressed into the highbeam-on position.

B) "Exception, see the logfile" - Remove the module, open it by gently prying the module apart the two plastic pieces. A fingernail in the seam helps. Remove the internal MicroSD card, insert it into a reader attached to your computer, and email the LOGFILE.LOG to Vladimir.
All of this was very helpful. Though the Step 1 "Save backup to logfile" never showed up on mine. It just went straight to the installation step...

yeah, the only thing I would like is the extra power applied when in "Motorway Mode" or whatever it's called...I wonder if I could just hardwire it???

If you are in the US your W204 does not have ILS unless you code it. One of the tricks for HID ILS is when a car is coming at you the left lense goes way down following the incoming car in real-time with the camera, and the right lense one stays up pointing when you are going. In your W204 (and currently mine) both use high beam or low beam automatically moving both of them at the same time, and not independently. They also both do the steering trick.

Think it's tied to VIN? I have a family member with a nearly identical W212 and am wondering if it could be used there too.

Definitely VIN specific, but yes you can turn features on/off as you like. Anyone got more updates?

I took a drive on a road with some very tight corners tonight. I know that the US-spec system is supposedly curve adaptive, but the swiveling of the lights with ILS was far more aggressive than I’d ever seen before. Excellent visibility in tight curves and it also swiveled the adaptive high beams around the corners.

Thats awesome, glad you are happy so far, yours is a 2015 so you have the LED's? I am awaiting Madmans install to see how different it is on a xenon car.

Anyone doing any other coding like turning off the small yellow marker light on the side corner of the headlights, or video in motion trunk lock with key with this coder?

I would like to close my trunk with the key. How is this possible to activate?

My car has the following codings:

1) (obviously) full ILS unlock
2) Fuel tank in gallons display
3) AMG gauge cluster screens (see earlier posts in this thread for photos)
4) CarPlay unlock (only available for MY2016 production dates 03/2015 and later with NTG5.1)

There were other options available, like Agility mode, eco stop/start default off, things like that but I passed on those. You cannot unlock video in motion in a 2016 with a module, it requires hardware so I passed on that. I only use CarPlay now anyway.

Well I got the module, it shows that it activated the feature. But no option on the menu to turn it on, so I have to wait until nighttime to see if there is any noticeable difference. If there isn't, I will get back with Vlad.
