facelift HK7 audio

now I'll admit, the album this track is from prompted me to add a small subwoofer to my old Volvo 780 turbowagon, heh.
where *is* the sub in the E350 4matic wagon, anyways, sounds like its under the center of the dash but hard to tell. has anyone done any upgrades of that sub in place? I don't want some clunky big box in the back of the wagon, we got that to haul stuff. gotta be able to use the back seats for adult passengers, or fold them down for more cargo.

it looks like this...
I read something that suggested these modules are connected with fiber optics? if thats the case, I would need to keep the module in this speaker, but remove the actual speaker, and replace it with a load resistor, wired to an amplifier to drive a real woofer put somewhere.
yeesh, thats kinda complicated. I like simple.

I can never decide on Logic7 surround setting on/off. Some songs sound better with it on, some sound better with it off. A couple of the 14 speakers don't have any output with it off, IIRC.

I like the Bass in the HK7 system in the W212 much better than the Bose system in my C320.

I've often thought car subs should be ported under the back seats, facing forward so the bass 'hits' under the front seats and surrounds you from the bottom up
