So turn off BT on ALL nearby phones that are paired. I recall summarizing a looong thread about that issue..., perhaps it applies to ya.

CMD <-> BT
Double check... but I sort of recall this may be caused by answering NO to access requests to Address book, Messages and the likes...
Delete existing pairings then Retrain "properly" to avoid the Reboot condition.
FYI : recently I was helping a friend of mine with iPhone pairing issue on his 2021 Lexus.... Make sure your phone name is vanilla without any foreign letter characters, specifically double-bytes chars. iPhone handles this well but car does not!!

I was envisioning it rebooting in a repetitive cycle, never fully booting up. What’s the frequency of rebooting? Is it tied to any button presses or events?
*nvm*
looks like you guys are on the right track…

Now that you know what is causing this issue, you may want to locate that existing thread I mentioned to understand solutions.

- another thread for a 2012 SLK 350 had a similar problem, and the unit refused to delete the paired phones. From there, the advice is to remove your car from the Bluetooth list of any phone close by, turn them off and then proceed to reset your COMAND. You do not want "external disturbances" while resetting your car.
- same thread above similar problem for 2014 SLK 350, but the problem was a "loose connection to the ring"
===
The computer booting process has some asynchronous steps, and it could be trying to connect to close by paired phones before other parts of the operating system are completed and if the connection process fails for some unexpected reason the booting process bails out; therefore, a restart .

It's just a computer. Manual hard reboot. Don't lock yourself out with too many failed attempts/variations in procedure:
1) Turn ignition to ON
2) Press and HOLD the ON/OFF button til you hear a beep
3) Computer will reboot/splash screen will display

DO you have Sirius radio activated?
That caused mine to do the same as you mention.
work for 10 secs then lock up then reboot.
My fix was ensure Sirius is not activated and yell at sirius when they give out the free week

As Senecat indicated, the COMAND is just a computer, and in this case seems to be in an infinite boot loop (seen in Android phone, Windows laptops, No OS laptops, etc). In general the solution is a reset, but some situations the reset must be "harder" than others. I am sure at this point you do not mind loosing your COMAND settings

1 - Remove/Disconnect any peripheral the COMAND unit could interact with
=== Sep-23 Update ===
Have anyone seen this video?
In particular, the 4th case. It mentions that by turning ON-OFF the units 25 times , some codes will be stored. Are there other "tricks" for these head units?

I am sure some of you have seen laptops with these nasty boot loops.
I have bought a few laptops from Ebay listed as "Not working for parts" which are described as "Fail to boot to BIOS, Power button lits up, FAN spins and then Shutdown".
Here is what I have done that so far have worked
- Disconnect the battery if any (most for parts Ebay laptops come without)
- Opened and remove the "infamous to me" coin battery
- Press the power button at least 20 seconds
- Connect memory if missing
- Connect a good power supply. I prefer a minimum of 90 W, but since I have 200W I used that one all the time
- By now the LED indicating charging should be lit
- Press power button UNTIL the FAN spins and the machine turn itself OFF again
- Press power button and wait for the laptop to cycle through the hardware checkup
- Boom.. Manufacturer logo shows on the screen,
- No OS found message.. We got a new laptop to be rebuild, the last resuscitated one is going to be my XENTRY laptop in the garage.
Does it sound familiar compared to these cars? Disconnect the main battery, wait for system to reset, reboot?
I wonder if there is a booting back door to the COMAND, i.e. takes the developer to the "BIOS" if exists and then able to reset a few settings and then reboot.

1 - Remove/Disconnect any peripheral the COMAND unit could interact with
- CD/DVD -> Eject to see if it works
- Memory card --> Take it out
- Anything connected in the port (within the center armrest console?
- Delete references to the car from any phones paired via Bluetooth
- Turn OFF the Bluetooth of those phones when booting the COMAND (which may be looking for them)
- Deactivate/suspend, the Sirius service (yggm's suggestion). Hopefully, you do not need a Faraday's cage for this work
2 - Once there is nothing physically, or referencing the unit, you proceed with a "forced restart". That is, press the ON button until BOTH of the following happens- Delete references to the car from any phones paired via Bluetooth
- Turn OFF the Bluetooth of those phones when booting the COMAND (which may be looking for them)
- Deactivate/suspend, the Sirius service (yggm's suggestion). Hopefully, you do not need a Faraday's cage for this work
- The system shuts down and you can hear the hard drive click, and turn itself off.
- The stays off for a bit, and then you should get the "Mercedes Benz/AMG" displayed on the screen
3 - From bmwpowered36,- The stays off for a bit, and then you should get the "Mercedes Benz/AMG" displayed on the screen
- pulling the command fuses for 10 minutes and disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes (each separately).
4 - If the above fails, update the thread and look for more suggestions (like pulling the unit out so see nothing is loose)=== Sep-23 Update ===

Did you have sirius before?
So you pulled the 2 fuses? I forget numbers
WEll time for dealership...
HOw long you owned car?
Maybe a software update will cure your issue...
All I know is too much computer in the radio system... and too much MB's version of BLUE SCREEN of DEATH.

At this point the radio is not the problem. The source of what make the radio fail is the problem; otherwise, the new radio may not solve it immediately or worse it will fail again w/o any predictable timeframe, say a week or just after the warranty on the new expires.
Changing parts w/o understanding the source of the failure is a Russian roulette game.

I understand; however, keep in mind the dealer will not get tired of giving you answers (right or wrong) as long as you keep paying.
Did the dealer give you a source of the problem? Even something as lame as it is a wear item.
Did they show you the summary diagnostic from their XEntry/DAS (whatever they used)?
I hope it is replaced under warranty (or extended warranty), or it is going to pricey $$$

If you paid any/all of these dealers have one revisit at no cost, and as suggested, provide a Xentry quick test summary confirming exactly what is malfunctioning. It may be the radio but can also be any other device in the MOST loop.
