After windshield replacement, compass indicator stuck on "East"
Hi all - weird problem. I had the windshield replaced in my 2016 E-350 on Monday, and after getting the car back, the compass indicator (next to the gear indicator within the speedometer) is stuck on "E." Coincidentally, that's the direction the car was facing when pulled into the glass shop.
My glass guy recalibrated everything like the lane keep assist, collision avoidance, rain sensing, etc, and all of that works fine. He hasn't encountered a stuck compass before. Is there a way to reset it?
LOL. The green "E" is not a compass point display at all. In other words, there is no compass display within the speedometer.
Instead, the "E" means the drivetrain is set to "E" for ECONOMY driving mode. Tap the toggle switch in the horizontal console, and the symbol "E" will change to "S" for SPORT mode. And, changing the windshield will have no effect on the mode display.
the arrows surrounding the gear indicator are used by the computer to show you what selection is available.
In particular, the arrow for "P" is speed sensitive! It goes away near 5Mi/hr to prevent shifting into Park while moving.
Same protection for the Reverse gear...

unfortunately the car came with no manuals, so I’ve been using the onboard COMAND documentation, but it didn’t cover this.
A downloadable copy of your owner's manual, Comand System manual, maintenance manual (etc) is available on the Mercedes-Benz website. I highly recommend acquiring them on your PC.
