Keyless Go module part number / location??

How’s it going I just picked up an E350 but in my excitement forgot to confirm if the keyless go was working. I’ve been digging around the forums and have done my share of troubleshooting. I’m pretty sure it’s the module itself that needs to be replaced. Is there a website where I can put my VIN number in and find out the part number that I need or do I have to have someone plug up to my vehicle and tell me the part number via Xentry??

Also I’m a bit confused. Is the module located in the passengers side of the trunk or drivers side?? Thanks to anyone who can point me in the right direction.

This crazy little KGo Module is located in the trunk on passenger side... they can be soldered better than new for free. Battery disconnected prior to work.

Same'a true with ... :
D/P seat modules
F/R door modules

Are you sure it has keyless go? Use the vin decoder and see if you have the option code, 889 I believe. It's usually several components, door handles antenna keyless go module etc. Keyless go module failure isn't very common. You would use EPC to look up the part numbers. Discontinued after 2018 but still works for older models. You can pick up a knock off copy of EPC on eBay for under $2 these days. Also comes with WIS which is the full dealer repair manual. You should get a scanner that can read mb specific codes to see what it says about the keyless go module.

Yup, confirmed on lastvin.com. I have the keyless go package. I also have the common symptom of when I touch the door handle I get a message on the screen that says key not detected. Tried replacing my car key battery as well as unplugging my car battery for 15 min but still no keyless go. Same message I get when I try the push to start button. Thanks for the resources, I'm going to order that EPC program asap.

Try getting a scanner then. There's a separate keyless go module and if there are problems, it should identify them. There was a firmware update also for the older MB cars. I had the MB dealer update the firmware on my car to fix bluetooth issues and Sirius issues. Also try the second key, it could just be your key, the keys go bad more often than any particular system in the car. I would think that if the key isn't detected, it's the antenna if it's a hardware problem. Or your replacement batteries aren't very good. Use a voltage meter and check the voltage of the battery in your fob, you should at least get a red flash when pressing the button. New the batteries are 3.30-3.35 volts and when you drop down to 3.06 volts, it starts to complain about low key fob battery voltage. If you don't have a 2nd key, a replacement can be pricey. Call around for different prices at different dealers, check with the parts department first and see if there are any coupons. You might be able to get one dealer to price match another further away. If you go to service, they'll probably want to charge you an hour for programming but there really isn't any programming, you just plug the key in and turn it to program it. Programming is basically removing the old keys from the system but they probably want a full hour for that.

I have exactly the same issues on my e220 cdi. Did you manage to fix the issue? Was it your keyless go module?

When you press the button do you get the red light on your key fob? Did you hold the key right up next to the door handle? Things like a phone can block the signal. There's multiple antennas, did you try the other side of the car?

Adding to the red light, you can open your phone camera and point it to the tip of you keyfob and press the lock/unlock button. You should see another light (bluish?) not visible to the human eye.

I was home when I noticed my key (a new key with a new battery) wasn’t been recognised/ detected by the car so it wouldn’t crank. I went and got the spare key and the car recognised the spare key and I started and drove the car to my next destination and turned the car off. I went to start the car again and this key wasn’t been recognised and I couldn’t crank the car. Occasionally it would unlock the doors but very rarely. I had a new fob battery (I kept as a spare in the car only 2months old), I replaced the battery in the fob and the car started so l drove the car home and turned the car off and then went to re start the car and now nothing again. I called the RAA (Royal automotive assistance) and he checked the infrared on the fobs and we also put in another new battery in the fobs and no detection of the fobs and obviously no cranking. At one stage when he pressed the unlock button on the fob the car unlocked but that was the last time there was any connectivity between the fob and the car.
so I know it’s not the fobs so I’m down to
- the software may need an update
- the auxiliary battery in the trunk needs to be replaced
- the keyless go module needs to be replaced

I removed the button for the key less go because over the past 2 months I would occasionally get a red screen saying “key not detected” while I was driving and then the message would go away (I have owned the car for just over 2 months). One owner , full service history and 152,000 kms and it’s like new).

I’ll try again in the morning after it has sat for 8 hours and see if the fobs and the car detect each other. What could it be?

Did anyone find the fix? I'm having the same issue. I push the button and the lights on the dash comes on but the car won't start. But it starts just fine with the key in the ignition.
