2014 W212 Handbrake light stays on & Parktronic not working

Hello everyone, I own a 2014 W212 E220 CDI with 470,000 km on the clock.I’ve previously mentioned an issue with the instrument cluster and A/C cutting out intermittently, which is related to a CAN BUS fault (haven’t sent it to the electrician yet). However, today I encountered yet another problem. This morning, after releasing the footbrake, the warning light on the dashboard remained on. On top of that, the Parktronic sensors stopped working completely. The Parktronic indicator lights inside the cabin no longer turn on, however they only flash for a brief moment right before starting the car.
I have a strong belief that the Parktronic issue could also be related to the CAN BUS.As for the footbrake, how can i verify it could be a mechanical issue? It’s possible that last night I pressed the footbrake pedal one extra click. Could that have caused anything on the footbrake? I figured it wouldn't be wise to risk it so I drove my secondary car. Thanks

It is probably just the sensor issue for the Emergency Brake, Footbrake you call it.

In my car (2010 model) if I just slightly touch the foot pedal with my foot (happens very easily and often) the brake light comes ON.

I have not looked into this as the light clears every time I pull the brake release.

The switch is most likely of a kind that it sees the brake in home position so if the light does not clear it means the brake mechanism that the pedal moves does not quite come to the switch or the switch has moved or perhaps the switch is bad?

The parking sensors not working may be a result of the brake light being ON.

Yes, the Parktronic will not work when parking/hand brake light is ON. Its ECM assumed you are not supposed to drive.
I once had a mild 2 click only on the parking/hand brake , was on an alignment rack. I then reverse, forgot that I had my parking/hand brake as 2 clicks does not feel any braking effect.
I reverse back to a half wall and waited , why parkings sensor not working ??? It has the parking/hand brake.

Same strategy for wipers, with hood/bonnet unlatched, wipers won't work.

I have verified the Parktronic with another w212 model, turns out that it does actually work once the footbrake light is off.
should I replug the footbrake sensor?

it's up to you if you don't mind driving without knowing brakes are left on. Seriously brakes are best kept reliable ... re-connect much needed sensor.

You have clocked a lot of KM. I have the same car with less than 1/2 what you have. Any major issues beyond this light? I never really use my parking brake. As a result the cable system is sticky probably rusted. So when do us the PB it does not release all that well leaving the parking brake light on until I fuss with the pedal

Dried sticky grease causes the bug coil spring to no unwind properly.

Either clean sticky grease or replace new PB.

Firstly, I'd like to thank everyone who has given possible solutions regarding this problem. In today's morning I inspected the footbrake's sensor, and to my surprise, it was not even in place. I have put it to its correct position and now it works!

Aint that sweet.
I once had my brake switch came off its seating.
It was itchy hand of mine during work under the steering.

First time this happened to me I thought I had broken something or the wiper motor died.

Yeah! Apparently since the system reads the footbrake as "engaged" the Parktronic sensors don't work. They start to work only after the footbrake is read in thr electronic system as "released" (in simpler terms when the handbrake light goes off). I have confirmed that with another 2014 W212.

Quick fact, the REAR parktronic were actually working in some occasions, even without the footbrake sensor.
