Latest version of command?
Now that I'm under the CPO warranty; would this update cost me anything to get the latest version OR what shall I complain about to have them provide this update at no cost? I heard that sometimes if you don't present an issue with your current version
they won't do it.
Did anyone find out how to get into the "Engineering Mode" not just the "Dealer Mode" shown above ?
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
After much argument with the dealership threatening to take my 3 MB's to some other dealership, an email from MBUSA asking the service manager to call me within 24 hours, even though I didn't try to talk to him while there and even though MBUSA'S stated that they can't tell a customer what is /is not covered under the warranty which is non-sense leave it to the individual dealership to pull it out of their hats as they please.....the service manager agreed to do it without charge. They kept saying it is not covered under the base warranty and CPO since the warranty book doesn't say the word "software" or "software update" just the command unit itself. So I told them fine; rip it all up and replace the entire head command unit than.....regardless it done now and that's my last hopefully.
Also; the DOM didn't get updated. Is it like the Date of Manufacturer or specific to every car that doesn't change with updates? Honestly; I don't see any difference between the 5.8 and 6.8. Anyone noticed any difference? Also does it really change the rideability and steering stiffness like some mentioned above??

lol, I told you that you were not missing anything.
they don’t like to do the software updates because they don’t make a lot of money off them from the warranty claims, and it takes them a few hours. (Which in theory I don’t really understand why it takes that long to begin with and why the cars cannot just be updated by us, but I digress)
anyways enjoy the new version it’s the same as the old version lol

On my previous CPO, my dealer updated for free. I recall the invoice saying something to the effect that "~...customer complained CarPlay not connecting correctly..." or something like that which may have triggered the update being free under CPO warranty. My Service Advisor did not even hint that there would be a charge for the job.
One of the first things I noticed on the way back from the dealership was Waze showing some crazy speed (130mph) while I was doing 70-80. Then I realized that there literally no button existed to skip tracks in one click (the skip button on the touchpad doesn't do anything) - I need to push media to get to Spotify and then click skip via the rotating wheel. And right-hand-side buttons on the steering wheel do not control the head unit while using CarPlay.
Then I found this thread and was super excited to get my SW updated from 00.59 to the latest since I understood that all these issues were resolved with later versions. And baaaam - got the same response from the dealer as @pintycar : tech specialist says the latest version they could see in Xentry was 00.61 and that's what they updated the system to. They mention all they can see is dictated by what MB makes available to that VIN. I'm very frustrated with this because I use CarPlay a lot, and these bugs are disheartening.
I tried MBUSA with no avail - they say that they don't do anything related to the head unit (sounds BS to me). And as of today, I emailed some random emails I found online for MB Germany (customer.care@daimler.com, dialog@daimler.com, dialog.mb@daimler.com) to explain the issue. Don't have any hope that this will get resolved but doesn't hurt to keep trying.
For the record @pintycar , I do have Burmester (810) but not 3D like you do (811).
The two local dealers I've checked here in Northern Spain. They conneced the Xentry diagnosis tool and physically showed me that they had no updates available for any of the modules of the Command system
(please refer to my post #213 --nice, appropriate number-- here) 08-19 -2021, 03:24 PMAhhh... bummer. That would make sense though. I guess very few people actually order this ultra expensive extra (I seem to recall its list price is between 5k€ and 6k€) and, hence, MB has little motivation to push frequent tailor-made updates for it. It does suck though, because you pay more for a worse "experience". Don't get me wrong, the sound is really good, maybe not 5k€ good, but very good.
Thanks for the information about your S560, I do not use the navigation maps (I always rely on Waze or GMaps from my phone via Android Auto) but I'd be quite disappointed in your situation too, because let's be real: a sound system shouldn't really affect the version of the navigation maps.
Oh I do too. And I sort of don't want to believe it
That's why I keep coming back to check this thread in the forum hoping to find that one bit of info that would indicate that I might finally be able to update my system. (Mainly because it's super slow at times and if I change radio stations too often, it just dies). My only hope now is, if I ever go on a long trip to a different country, say France or Germany, to try again at a local dealer there just in case. But I wouldn't bet on it happening tbh.
Thanks again for your kind replies and I guess I'll just focus on enjoying the nice M276 DELA30 engine.

well you don't know what you don't know.
the car had its b service and got an update
its far speedier than before,
Lane keep assist seems to have disappeared though.
speed limiter shows mph now instead of kph, yes I knew what it meant but still.

Another thing is, unless you are experiencing issues with your software it is generally advised against randomly installing new updates which may introduce bugs, forum member superswiss explained it in depth here: https://mbworld.org/forums/s-class-w...ml#post8727974
Which branch of Mercedes in the UK updated your COMMAND system?
Did you ask for it?
