W213 E200 M274 - Combustion misfiring of cylinder 4
I’m having an issue with my car related to error codes P030085 and P030485. Here’s what I’ve done so far:
- Changed the spark plugs – didn’t resolve the issue, the error persists.
- Swapped the ignition coils – the same result, error still present.
- Replaced the injector – worked fine for about 10 days, but now the check engine light is back.
However, when starting cold, the check engine light starts blinking (VIDEO), and sometimes it just blinks without staying on the dashboard, but reappears the next day and stays on dashboard.
Has anyone experienced something similar or have suggestions on what might be causing this? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

A blinking CEL means that there is an immediate, severe misfire occurring and continued driving can lead to engine damage. Steady means there is a condition that needs to be addressed directly, but not damaging. All CELs are emissions related.

Do a real physical compression and leak down check.
Pull the coil and plug and use a borescope to inspect.
If inconclusive take it to someone who knows what he is doing.
Or sell the car. These M274 four bangers are junk. Use the search function on this site.

2. Nesto mi je poznata ta pjesma na snimku xD (Zvuci mi kao Dzejla Ramovic - Ruine)
3. Mislim da ti je problem sa fuel Injectors. Imao sam isti problem sa svojim autom. Nazalost morat ces promjeniti sve cetiri, jer obicno kad ode jedan moze i drugi treci i tkd....
Zivio
Right! Most of the M274 engine's that had the bad wrist pins where from 2015-2016- made by Nissan which was shut down a few years back!
A lot of reported bad wrist pins came out of California/West cost also. :-)

I know I was talking to this old timer here- a real shiza for brains that will probably chime-in, but anyhow he has or had a 2017 E300 that he (1) tracked, (2) put 89 octane gas in and (3) mention that he torn the engine down a few times!! Then wondered why he had piston problems LMAO!

Not to say there where not bad or over sized wrist pins that where made in the Nissan plant for MB M274 engines, but still! I would never add mods or track my 2017 E300, this is a 4 Cyl not a V8! If you want power buy the bigger engine how I see it.
Then he went on to say how every M274 engine was affected or most of them, which is absolutely incorrect! MB soon closed that Nissan plant down when finding out. It was a small percent compared to the millions of M274 engine sold.
Its a great engine that will last but you must take care of it. I personally know someone with a 2017 E300 2.0 gas engine- in Germany, has over 300k miles, not one major engine issue!

Here in Australia all E Classes are made in Sindelfingen, with engines likely coming from their Unterturkheim plant.
There are lots of 9year old C200, C250, C300, GLC250s and E200s on the roads here with M274 engines and engine wrist pin failures seem to be uncommon.
Mine has an M264 and so far, it’s running like the day I rolled it out of the dealership 4 years ago. Serviced every 6k miles (10k kms). Still smooth as butter on RON98 (US AKI 93 octane). But I’m apprehensive if their valve failures are universal or due to poor quality control at specific plants. The failure rate of M264s has probably not gone above 0.5% for them to report it.

But remember even if your car was made in Germany it doesn't mean the engine parts came from there but luckily for instance I bought my car in Stuttgart Germany and had it shipped to the USA and later found out that my engine parts came from the Berlin plant-they also make engine parts!
My resources came from Mercedes USA, Mercedes of Stuttgart and my local dealership. You can always call Mercedes yourself, they have the affected engine numbers, mostly from 2015 to 2016, lots of C classes, Glc's.

I would've thought Massimo here would have learned his lesson after being humiliated last time on a public forum. I had 20 people DM me saying what a weirdo he is for making a fake profile and for lying constantly.
Anyways, OP, do you have any updates on your car? Have you done a leak down test and compression test on your M274? It could honestly be a leaking fuel injector that is causing your problems. I've had the same issue on my M274. The fuel injectors can get stuck open after 120 ish thousand miles and have to be swapped out. I also had one of my friends in Canada have to replace his M274 engine on his 2018 because his piston cracked and ended up blowing a hole through block.
