Still usable. I have car 5 months and it has frozen 4 times. Shut car off, lock it, and 5 or so minutes later all good.

How long ago did it happen last? Sounds like an intermittent issue that has a workaround. Not ideal, but not as bad as an unusable car.

 

Hello! Aussie E300 owner here. I’ve had the car a couple of weeks and about 700km in. It’s great. Superscreen working well.

Only issue I’ve encountered is Apple CarPlay album art from Apple Music not fully syncing into MBUX’s zero layer interface. Minor issue.

Have installed a BlackVue DR970X Plus dashcam system with LTE and the BlackVue can actually act as a hotspot. Connected MBUX to it, using the native Apple Music app (no zero layer album art issue) and getting access to Dolby Atmos. Sounds absolutely incredible!

Oh perhaps it’s because I just joined as a member after seeing a fellow Aussie post about an E300, got excited haha! Usually just a forum lurker :P

Unfortunately no Atmos through CarPlay. It sounds amazing nonetheless (we get 4D Burmester as standard for others reading this post). But with Atmos, it’s something else.

I also found the 4D mini subs in the seat a bit unsettling at setting 5 or above (max 10). At setting 2 you can feel just enough that it remains comfortable and you feel like you’re part of the music too.

What colour combo did you get and did you get the Premium Plus pack?

 

I am getting Silver and Black seats with the Plus package.

Ca I use the phone as hot spot for the native Apple Music app and still take calls on the MBUX through Bluetooth?

 

Nice, I ended up getting graphite grey with the beige interior. Yes you can use your phone as a hotspot, just make sure to turn the hotspot function on prior to getting into the car or it’ll struggle to auto connect.

Alternatively get a pocket wifi from Telstra or another carrier (with built in battery) and have it connected in the centre console box via USB hidden away. The car will then connect to that, and when your car is off it’ll stay on due to the battery pack and be good to go each time you drive.

 

What about phone calls? Bluetooth?

 

Yeah it’s completely fine - even with hotspot running you can run apple carplay and you’ll get everything working as per normal

Happened about 5 mos ago and 4 times during the 5 mos. Shutdown and restart definite work around. Dealer says software fix is soon to be available.

 

Our brand new car e300de allterrain has been updated but still the center screen and instruments keeps restarting in middle of driving! Before update only center screen restarted many times for us! So now its worse

the main reason why I don’t think I’ll get the super screen is I have to pull a folded wheelchair over me and set it on the passenger seat. I would worry about with scratching or shattering the super screen in doing this move especially in the dark at night.

 

That's a good reason not to get it. I have it and found it's not very useful. I like the look with the compass over a plain dash but I have yet to have a passenger actually use the screen. With your reasons for not getting it, I would say you are just as likely to scratch or damage the center screen or dash when pulling a folded wheelchair over the center console and into the passenger seat. You will have to be careful either way.

 

its intermittent, sometimes few days i row sometimes a week between failure! And MB is not so intrested to fix it!

Does it freeze up where you can't control AC, Navi, etc or does it do something else.
Dealer is telling me there is a new software release.as of July.

our was updated with software july 2nd our screen can hang up sometimes så you cant do anything with screen and then it restarts instrument and screen within 1 minut or something. I got answer from mb 24h that" sometimes new electronics hang up so you can just turn off and restart car in 20-30 minutes so you restart all systems.. nice solution on a car for 90000$

 

I had this issue. I haven’t had it recently ever since I hooked up a 10amp Noco genius battery charger/maintainer to the charge port (pretty cool it comes from the factory ready to be hooked up to charge).

it definitely seemed to help the overall stability of all electronic operations on the car. I highly recommend you try this out. It didn’t mess up anything and I didn’t have to unhook any negative battery terminals or anything. It’s in the manual for the procedure of where to hook up the charger.


I’ve had this issue in two separate variants. One is iPhone iOS CarPlay music / Bluetooth +wifi integration related

the other is purely some random glitch that makes it so the time that’s said on the instrument cluster becomes not aligned with the frozen time clock on the main mbux screen.

However I should mention, one time I got in and drove and the entire cars instrument cluster screen and the main screen both were blank. No tech, no speedometer or numerical readings. However the screens were on with the blue background. Very unsafe and disconcerting.

Luckily that was a freak of an incident and never happened again.

all these incidents happened and happened semi to rarely regularly before I tried using the NOCO Genius10 to charge the 12v battery — using AGM mode which charges up to a maximum voltage of 14.8v


i have a 2024 Mercedes E450, with no super screen option, I am the first owner and I first had my very first issue regarding this mbux screen/system glitch about 5 days after purchasing brand new. One of the glitches produced a check engine light, which I read the code and it said “master clock misalignment” or something. I cleared the DTC with a $20 Amazon obd2 code reader and I never had another CEL come back.

hope this anecdote helps find the culprit or real definitive solution to this bizarre cluster of issues. Definitely feels bad when you just spent $85000.

 

would rather take that 1500 dollars and use it on manufaktur paint or drivers assist or towards the air suspension.

 

Thursday we had our second journey to service and they found one faultcode to instuments and screen. They resolved it by running update once more but yesterday the problem came back! So no we have to wait and see if they come with some solutions for us. We have 140km to nearest servicepoint
!

 

Has anyone received any over the air updates since taking delivery? Also, has anyone tried to do a manual map update? I took delivery May 13th, and have not received any updates. My car came with version 5 nav map, on the Mercedes portal,I was able to download version 8 and then version 9. I installed both, the car says they were successfully installed, but the car says I have version 5.

Wondering if anyone has this issue.

 

Have the car for 3 weeks and 2500 km so far.
Central screen froze 2 or 3 times while driving..
It restarted itself after 5-10 minutes..

Today, while driving the driver screen, just went blank and only showing speed. I stopped, restarted engine without success, then locked /unlocked also unsuccessfully. Locking the car for 1 minute solved it.
But very frustrating for such budget car...

I booked thr dealer after 2 weeks, first available date they have, to update the software.i hope will help.

Meanwhile i am driving and try not thinking about that..
