How do you attach front license plate holder?

Hi,

I need to attach a front license plate holder to a 2025 E450 wagon. I haven’t seen the car but I know it doesn’t have a holder.

1) Are there pre-drilled holes?
2) If no, how would I drill them?
3) What part# holder would I order from an online OEM shop. I see there are several different part# that say they fit a 2025 E450 (which I assume will fit the wagon).

For example:
https://www.mboemparts.com/search?se...ket&ptid=12623

I am in the US.
Thanks!

I wouldn't (and didn't)...even when I lived in a state that required it. Or, get your car titled in a state that does not require it......(I have done that as well).

I swear I don’t get this. Just put it on. It’s a car - you will get rid of it in a few years and nobody will care. Just put it on and avoid any issues.

The dealer should mount it for you.
I’m in Texas where a front plate is required but I haven’t had mine mounted. Many here don’t, but you are leaving yourself up for an easy reason for a traffic stop. If I do get stopped for it I’ll just act stupid and say the mount is in the trunk but I never remembered to take the car back to get it installed.

If it isn't drilled already, don't. Could consider slybrackets. If it is already drilled then carry on.

Is the E53 factory mount the same as the others?

Also, if it’s required in your state, the dealer is required to include one in your purchase so you shouldn’t have to buy one..

It's provided even if a front plate is not required in the state. Mine came with one that now sits in the garage along with the carpet mats I've never used. If I lived in a state that requires front plates, I would opt for a tow hook mount before I would drill holes in the bumper. Glad I don't have to worry about that.

Slybrackets would not work for the W214. Carbonio is your best bet here.

I see. Did they announce plans on when they will support it? Another option is plate wrap but not ideal.

No idea. I spoke directly with the owner last October, and unfortunately, they told me that if the one from my EQS didn’t fit even after modifying it, then they don’t have one that will, I recently checked their vehicle fitment list and still have not come across the W214, I assume the way the plate grip mounts are designed that would mean they’d have to redesign it completely.
On the flip side, the Carbonio plate holder has been awesome. Super easy to pop on and off for events or shows.

Thanks for the alternative, glad you found a replacement to share. Thanks for sharing.

I know that I am a lemming...they say get a plate, I get a plate. They say to jump off a cliff...I jump off the cliff....

I do have all my cars owned by corporations, ignorant cops dont even know who to ticket (they cant see my holding company owns the corporations)...

The premise ( @Hicksra ) "they say to get it, so get it" is an apathetic response to a moronic requirement.

Unless you are talking about an automated ticket based on a photo of the car and plate number, doesn't the cop just ticket the driver in a traffic stop? If an automated ticket based on plate, then it's whoever or whatever company is the registered owner. Why would it matter who the owner of the registered company is?

Points are not issued against company owners while they are against an individual owner (depending on jurisdiction). I agree a cop will ticket the driver no matter what the ownership is. In my area I rarely see a car stopped by a cop, but speeding ticket revenue is up due to the numerous speed tracking devices in use - road sensors (mechanical & electronic), cameras/radars, aircraft/stop watch, ...

I don't have to attach a front plate holder in my state.

So you decide on case by case basis the merits of all requirements and then decide if you want to comply with them?
