580 EQS lease is ending: decision time! 450 vs 580

I have a 580 lease that will be up in April.

Now that the 450 has the hyperscreen, I’m trying to decide between a 450 and a 580. Is there anything in the 580 that I’d regret not having?
If I recall, the 580 is a little faster, but the 450 is still super quick.

Also, I read another post that someone may extend their lease to order the 2026 because the style will change. Is extending a lease a reasonable financial option?

I’d love any opinions, thank you!

Someone went EQE, you could consider that too : ) other than that there are rumours facelift EQS is out next year or so. https://mbworld.org/forums/eqs/86361...-eqs450-2.html

The EQS has faster charging, more range, AR HUD (available), larger Trunk, 10deg rear steering, rear seat amenities (available), and bigger interior.
Other than that it’s the same car.

Thanks for summarizing the differences, your post will most likely help OP's decision.

To answer OP's question, I think the 450 is adequate power to move the sedan (I usually recommend voting for your wallet as in not buying these subscriptions especially that the hardware is already there but just limited with software, like bmw's controversial heated seat subscription that backfired, but I want to still mention this subscription based acceleration increase upgrade is there if you need it, that option exists, in case you get the 450 and found it lacking)

THANK YOU! So is the main difference of 450 and 580 just a little power? I’m sure the 450 is fast enough for me… my goal is just to be able to rocket into a lane from an entrance ramp to the highway lane for safety.. or to switch lanes quickly.. i guess that is why everyone wants the power!

the 580 does that with room to spare, so assume the 450 is fast enough for me? Great to know there is a subscription available because I didn’t know! I didn’t sign up for anything after my one year of free stuff expired on my 580 because I find it insulting they want more money for something that doesn’t cost them anything .

Thanks for the idea of the eqe. I don’t want to give up range, so I’m not considering that one, but I appreciate any ideas!!! @Tjdehya great to know the eqe has the same ‘feel’ as the eqs!! In the past, the S class would drive a touch nicer than the e class, so I assumed the same differences would apply here. (Nicer in that it’s floaty-ier ) ..

Oh, does anyone here know anything about extending an existing lease? Meaning, is that a bad financial decision?
The only goal would be to be able to order a 2026 incase that one is a new body?

They just extend it under the same terms, not a bad financial decision either way. You're just paying rent for a vehicle, you pay rent for the one you're in or a new one.

Do you like the current shape or would prefer the more S Class look that's coming? If the latter then extend a year.
If you like the current then my choice right now would be a 450 4matic with the options you want and maybe the performance option to turn it into a EQS500 which you could always add later if you miss the performance..

I didn’t know they had decided the new look. This is great to know! When I got the eqs, I didn’t really like how it looked, but loved the inside where I spend most of the time! It has since grown on me. I wish they would come out with a two door (a la, my beloved, CL550), but i realize they canned that car due to lack of demand.

Thanks Steve. This is the 2025, and not the future new body, right?
My impression from reading is the 2025 is the same body but new grille with the old school emblem on the hood.. and truth be told, I want that emblem to help me figure out where the heck in the road I am!!! I had no trouble with my old CL, but in this car, I have never gotten a feel where the right side of the car is and I’m always afraid I’m going to side swipe something. (Hangs head in shame)

The 2025 is a minior change it is not a proper facelift at least from what I heard and reading. I guess they hope the standing star will help sell more EQS as apparently the sales aren't doing well right now.

The current EQS looks grew on me over the past couple of years and now the 2025 grill is abhorrent to me - so I'm happy with what I've got. Maybe by the time I switch that and whatever the actual facelift looks like will have grown on me. I'll also be older and so probably closer to the traditional S Class demographic.

Same same. I now think it’s a good looking car. That was not my feeling when I got it I do like the new star emblem for the practical reason I mentioned, but I don’t think the grille is any nicer than what is there now.

Honestly I am okay with both, yes it is not a pretty jellybean but honestly in person it is not a bad looking car (to me anyways), I obviously prefer the concept Vision EQS (before this production model revealed), that is one stunning looking vehicle.https://www.mercedes-benz.com/en/inn...rs/vision-eqs/

As for the refresh/facelift, yes it is coming out probably next year if all things go well, here is a thread on this topic and link to a video spotted: https://mbworld.org/forums/eqs/88762...ml#post9048156

Mhmm seems so, other than those differences that was mentioned. Range, liftgate becomes trunk, etc.

I prefer the stand up star, but I don’t know if you will be able to see it from the drivers seat

The body is the same. Only difference is the availability of the S Class grille and standing star.

Sorry to belabor this question, but I want to make sure we are on the same page.

Is this the big change that is coming in 2026 (new emblem and a grille)?
Or is this the minor change that has already been released for the 2025 models that will be released any minute now.

I thought a major body change is perhaps coming in 2026, so for that, I might extend the lease on my current 580 that is up in April in order to get the 2026 which potentially has a major body change being released next august.

Have I misunderstood and there is no body change in the works?

The emblem and grille should come out with the 2025 model. 2026 MAY be a bigger redesign but we haven't seen any evidence of that. MB has already said there will be no second generation EQS, so my guess is there won't be huge changes at all. For instance there are already refresh 2026 W223 S Classes running around being tested, no sign of any refreshed EQS...

Hmmm, so I got curious and looked it up, could this be it? It seems to be getting the same star headlights the spotted W223 is getting

I mean I am looking forward to this one. I want to see the improvements that first debuted on the W214 in effect on the facelift EQS and facelift W223, looking forward to seeing the improvements.
