Upgrade 2008 GL to 09/10 COMAND
Anyone know if it is possible to upgrade the COMAND unit of a 2008 GL to '09/'10 COMAND unit and what are some of advantages of the '09/'10 COMAND?

The 09 command is superior in every way to the 08 and earlier. see the other thread for the discussion about 08 vs 09 command.
yes you can upgrade but its rather expensive. you need to change not just the command but the system amplifier and subwoofer as well. The new amplifier has a different wiring configuration which will need to be changed by an audio shop. The sirius tuner is different as well between the 08 and 09 and will need to be swapped. The phone and VCS and CD changer are seperate modules on the 08 system vs. being built in on the 09: You will need to remove the phone and vcs and CDC modules (if equipped) and they can be sold along with the old amplifier and sub to recoup some money.
So to sum up:
05-08 comand NTG2 system:
Comand HU NTG2.0
CD Changer
Sirius Tuner (NTG2)
UHI (phone)
VCS (Voice control)
Amplifier
Subwoofer
Add-in ipod kit (the one that uses the steering wheel buttons)
09-10 NTG2.5 system:
Comand HU NTG2.5 (includes phone, voice control, DVD changer)
Sirius (NTG2.5,3,4)
Amplifier(NTG2.5)
Subwoofer with integrated amplifier(NTG2.5)
UCI (the cool new on-screen ipod controller)
obviously Sirius and UCI are optional;they arent required for operation.
Now if you have one of the base Audio 20 systems without the amplifier and subwoofer then its a bit easier: In that case you probably have just the Audio 20 and maybe the CDC and/or sirius. In that case the audio20 can be swapped for a NTG2.5 comand with minimal wire changes behind the radio. Again it all depends on your exact configuration.

Hello
What are the wire changes I´ll need to do for upgrade my Audio20 to NTG2.5 in a GL450 07.
I have the audio 20 + 6 CDChanger, no optical amplifier.

How about an upgrade to a CarPlay/Android Auto system?
I recently installed a Sony XAV AX100 to replace the COMAND in my X164. Pretty straightforward and generations ahead in technology.
Its a nice upgrade to get the latest maps.
