Yes, diameter is the same, fit perfectly, but you need to make about 3 small cuts to the grille to make it fit perfectly, I use a dremell, star look like is a factory accessory, about the wiring I will do it next week.

Cuts are basically inside of the grill, where star will be attach, no worries ...

StarTEK

Did you check StarTEK info? Pay the 19 bucks and do a search, probably on drivers side.

10min job.. The rubber comes right off and the AMA pedals slips right on.
No drilling needed.

Just to revisit the hitch installation--did you have to replace your SAM unit? Where is it located with respect to the fuse panel in the right rear compartment? Also, did you have torque specs for all the bolts that mount the hitch to the frame?

Thanks!

Another question--back in post #60, you indicated that the factory hitch was rated to 5000 lbs. Where did you find that value? The only other number I have to go by is the owner's manual which says that the truck has a towing capacity of 7000 lbs " when equipped with an approved hitch," which I assume the factory hitch would be. Just wondering if there is something I am missing.

thanks!

Your sam should be fine as long as it has the female plugs on it. Its below the fuse box on the right rear just look down. I just got all my bolts as tight as I could and have never had a problem, and I towed my Toyota supra to the track may time.

Carpet have velcro that attach to the carpet. I will say best Cargo liner you can get. Tray is chemically resistant. The good Genuine MB part. Before I order this cargo I look everywhere for more pictures.... nothing. For this reason I just try to help the GL X164 comunity with pictures (maybe you are in the same boat), you will have all info in one thread.
Wally is this the only color that the MB OEM cargo mat comes in? I would want to go with biege since it is covering so much of the interior space in the rear.

Hey Wally,

In post 84 you mentioned the red wire with fuse holder and that you would describe connections later - can you elaborate?...I believe I got that right since the fuse holder itself appears to be keyed and will only slide into one slot in the fuse panel anyway...

But I am wondering if you can shed light on the relay situation. The hitch came with one but I'm not sure where it goes or if it's even necessary. Various other posts online refer to relays L, K and U but it seems there are different opinions on which is necessary (if any).

Thanks for your hitch installation guide, it was spot on and made things easy for me...

Did the pedals yesterday. Probably the easiest mod ever! And the difference in appearance is great.

picture of my Beige door sill PN 66890142 love how look at night, this is my first MB with door sill.

Does anybody know if the electrical for the door sill is in for the GLs that did not have this option. I know some times the wiring harnesses are standard even if the car does not have the option and the plug may just be under there. Anybody know? I would really like to upgrade my GL with these oem parts.

I looked into putting in the lighted sills in my GL320 a while back. I pried up the original sill and poked around underneath and did not find any readily available electrical connection for the lighted sill. Seems like I read another thread where a guy was trying to install some aftermarket lighted sills, and he was having to dig into a harness and splice into the appropriate wire.
