New 350 Oil Change Question
I'm going to be taking delivery of a new GL350 in the next couple of months. I have to admit that it is an eagerly anticipated event.
My question is ... Many mechanical/technical types advocate changing the oil on a new engine pretty much right away or within the first couple of thousand km to keep the little metal bits and filings from manufacture from circulating in a new engine. They seem to want these evil bits purged to keep them from damaging internal engine parts and causing premature wear. Especially important for those of us who want to keep our vehicles for a long time. Is this a recommended practice?
Has anyone had this conversation with their mechanic or MB tech?
Thanks very much for your collective thoughts and wisdom.

I put a lot of miles on my GL and went through the normal recommended maintenance.

I think the tip to check oil on delivery, and to check during break-in are very good - however I would wait for the full 10K before doing the change out - but thats just me.
Keep the beat !
Nothing gained whatsoever in breakin by changing out prior to 10K interval except to make certain old school owner's feel better..
