I was just told similar to what happened to you. My 13 allocation ( with a PO#) was switched to a 14 by mbusa. I don't know if you initiated that change or not, but I didnt have a choice. I actually was hoping for a 13 as our lease is terming in two weeks. Slightly bummed!

I have been given a po and a production schedule of July, but not yet the decade.

Sorry to hear that. When was your '13 scheduled for production and when is your '14 now scheduled for production. And which GL are you going with?
Will you be able to extend your lease for a few months?

lol I went through that .... I was counting down the days before the next service was due, luckily I returned the car with 3-4 days left until a $$$ service including brakes came up, its a hassle thats for sure, I had no choice since my second choice for a vehicle was leasing at around 9% at the time.

Cyberorth - I am sorry to hear that. My switch was intentional and I had to jump through many hoops to get it switched. My build was scheduled for June 1st decade. My suspicion is that yours got switched because of the inability for the production line to handle all the scheduled builds. The only good thing for you is that will probably get 2013 pricing for your build.

Thanks - I assumed it was a GL63 but wasn't completely sure.

I just got some good news today that my build has been moved up from mid August to July 21st. I was really only expecting it to move back - not up.
Sounds like most of the original 85 scheduled for August have been moved up to July with a few spilling into August. Have you heard anything about your date moving up yet? It may be worth checking if not. I had thought that the Alabama plant went on holiday for one or two weeks in early/mid July on the model year change over. Maybe that holiday is being squeezed to meet demand?Fab:
Can you comment on the what seems like an acceleration of the builds for the MY2014s while at the same time the late MY2013s seem to be slipping? Or maybe only the GL63s moved up since they were seriously underproduced for the US in MY2013 . . .

We went in today and (re) ordered a GL63! For a 14 this time and it is scheduled for the third decade July as well!
Seems like we're going to have a pair of matching AMGs, C and GL in steel gray with red calipers. The C is 2011.

Yes we all have PO numbers. If the car has a build date then it has a PO number.
Did you find out more from your dealer?
Maybe you should consider looking at a different dealer even though you have a relationship with your current dealer. Your current dealer has not been totally honest with you throughout this process about the GL63 allocation.

That's cool about being in the same build decade. We will have to keep each other posted on what we are hearing about the delivery date when we get to late July . . .
That is also super cool about having two AMGs in your garage - and matching no less. We will need to see a joint photo op. Other than a brief flirtation with an R63 a few years back, I never thought I would have two AMGs with three kids.

I am told first decade of July production, August delivery. Will give him until next month and then switch. I don't have a real deadline for the truck and prefer a 2014 at this point. His explanation is very few were allocated for 2013 so I am in first production run for 2014.

^ True. There were hardly any for 2013's.
REALLY wish Benz would bump their allocations and builds...they're missing out on some good business and good money. Especially since they're pretty much all going to be sold for sticker.

The "1st 100" 2014 GL63's currently show scheduled for "July" production - however, I believe that # is waiting to be spread thru Aug/Sept production as those Aug/Sept production schedules open up to be filled.
Current US GL63 production so far has averaged low 20's per month...

Of the initial GL63 allocation that was released there seems to be few that are not sold and still available. I think the original demand for the GL63 was overstated. As more are being released the inventory will slowly start to build. Last week there were 5 listed on cars.com. I called each delayer to check on availability and 4 of them were available. Fletcher Jones in Newport beach just sold theirs this past weekend.

My dealer doesn't do anything and I like it that way. If they want free advertisement, I feel they can ask if the owner would mind having a dealership license frame and if willing install it, but anything more than that is too much.
