For some reason, system won't let me repost interior pics. Check post #815 in this thread.

She is nice!

Some quick thoughts about first accelerator to foot experience.

Fit and finish is very elegant as opposed to typical AMG. My colors feel more like a men's smoking club with rich leather and wood. The seats are extremely comfortable. Bolsters are not active as in the larger AMG cars. Over all seems more luxury than sport.

The double pain front driver/passenger windows are a big plus reducing wind/sound noises. My SL was surprisingly noisy from wind (tires were very noisy but, the wind was a surprise). The B&O seems nice but, not sure if getting full potential unless using an uncompressed CD. The exhaust note is there but subtle. Typically, the exhaust note improves over time. I'm used a sport exhaust in the Porsche often with top down. I definitely feel more isolated in the SUV too.

Suspension is softer than expected even in Sport + mode. I think my Q7 was firmer in it's softest setting. With that being said, there is virtually no body roll turning corners or on sweeping clover leaf's. I was disappointed that when you turn off car, and then return for next ride, you have to press all buttons again as it doesn't remember last settings. Same with ventilated seats.

Acceleration is fantastic. It feels more like a sporty car but, when you need to stop and/or move lanes, you feel it's weight. Considerably more nimble than any SUV I've even driven but, it ain't a Porsche or Ferrari by any means. The RennTECH tune gave the throttle a feather touch and torque, speed is much more relevant at lower speeds (0-60 timed at 4.1) It's very 'willing' and you have to pay attention (at least first day). I played with Manual Mode but, didn't explore it fully. The paddle's feel is very mechanical and they seem to click then changing gears. Not that great in my opinion.

Over all, I'm VERY happy with the new ride and have some time to put in to get a more refined impression. She's already caught some attention and points just in the few hours on the road

Do YOU think Renntech tune is worth considering? What are YOUR thoughts?

Is the B&O worth the extra $6400? I'm close to yellow status and trying to decide if it's really a big difference or not. Thanks!

I think it's an easy yes with turbo charged engines. I think one gets the most bang for the buck. Throttle response in incredible and with it's quietness, one has to pay attention to the speed as it creeps up on you quickly!

Interesting, looks like my dealer in MSP has a GL63 on the lot. They don't usually take actual pictures for vehicles that are sold but in inventory.

I will have it in my 14 GL63. Interesting the price is listed as $5400 on the Netstar printout - not sure if it is a mistake.

A gaggle of MB's
For a MBFS lease - you should have a clear understanding from the dealer Finance guy/gal - if a particular program is "residualised" by MBFS or not - and understand depending on the state determines whether or not a particular program can be or not.

For example - in my state - prepaid maintenance can be residualised - so youe true out-of-pocket cost for the maintenance package (30K for MSRP$999) is the effrect of adding $999 to the MSRP - and your lease cost increase is that depreciation factor + money facotr on that partial cost - so prepaid maitenance added to a 36K mile lease is a "true deal".

So, confirm the MSRP of the wheel/tire package - then ask if this is a residualised add-on or not - comprende ?

Residualised add-on's - if possible in your state due to their particular leasing laws - in large part can become quite affordable as compared tp purchase.

ALWAYS ASK - and ALWAYS get a clear answer - yes, some dealers can misinform their buyers to add additional profit.

GL63
I didn't think I would have enough patience to wait on a GL63 so I ordered a 2014 GL550 that was due to be built at the end of August. A salesman at another dealer knew that I wanted one. Last week he called and told me that the person that ordered this one could not take. If I act fast I can get it. I told him it is sold and picked it up the next day. The same color combo I had ordered except that it has the black wood. I had ordered Walnut. It must have every option as the sticker is $125,205. After driving it I am so glad I got it instead of the 550!

Congratulations. If it had every option then the sticker would be $133...

I know there were some options offered at the dealer that were not on the web site when I ordered the 550. After I posted I remember the B&O stereo option that this one does not have. Will get more pics and post the window sticker. Curious what options were missed. Starting to warm up to the black wood! Looking forward to getting it broken in so I can really get a feel for how much power it has.

Edit to add the window sticker. As I mentioned earlier I did not order but lucked into one that came available. Seems to be fully optioned with the exception of the B&O

I'm the son of tony CLS 63. Here are photos of our 2014 Gl 63. The red dot in some photos is a piece of dust in my camera lens. Sorry for that.

i've heard good things about the conti's, the pirelli's are over priced and dont last long. had that issue with pirelli's on my rs4 which lasted about 10/12 months and 15k miles.

Is this something we can ask the dealer to switch out if it shows up with the Pirelli's? Or something we can specify on the order?

mine came with the Pirelli's, I think its regional... not all markets get the same tires.
