A gaggle of MB's
MB choose not to add rear/3rd sunroof shade because that would result in lower headliner - and there was pressure to improve/increase all seating dimensions. Fortunately, with the upgraded thermal/UV/IR glass there have been no real user complaints. You can opt to add aftermarket tinit - 3M Crystalline from clear-to-limo darkness would be a top notch choice if you go that route due to its tech leadership in reducing UV/IR and best cellphone transparency yet.

i agree the tint for 3rd row def makes it comfortable- so far only one of the kids has complained - not of heat but the sunlight was bothering..
i think the 3m tint option is a good way to go- or maybe those stick on roller shades - i'm afraid they'l drop on someones head though!

Update: After many tribulations I have an allocation - Yes a PO number - with my preferred dealer in Texas. We were able to get the factory to change 2013 allocation to 2014 with the help of few wonderful people (I will leave it at that). The build is scheduled for August 1st decade. Now I will sit back and wait for it to be built.

That is great news! Congrats!
I am still curious as to how you were able to swing that. I would have thought you would have had to wait for at least the next series of allocations but you have slotted in with what I believe is the first group of 2014s. You are even ahead of me by a week. And did that 2013 slot disappear or get realocated to another dealer? just curious. Nice work in any event.

2014 GL63's have a production startup of 7/1 with earliest wholesale/retail release of early August. Also noticed that Harman Kardon and Splitview are options.

Just dd a search for GL on cars.com and 3 GL63s popped up: Sarasota, FL ; St. Petersburg, FL, and Englewood, NJ.
There is 1 GL550 listed for $128,520 in Fairfield, CA - I wonder if its actually a 550 or a 63? If it is indeed a 550 then thats a waste - at that price I go for the 63.
I guess the first batch are either at the dealers or on the way to the dealerships. Its a good sign

I checked - they have been moving thru to dealers - so the "not avail till July" really doesn't wash.. note, on US availability not-uncommon at a good number of MB dealer systems for a spoken for vehicle to pop up automatically on the internet - so best to call the MB dealer to confirm availability of that vehicle.
Englewood was one MB dealer that stuck in my mind that has 2-3 allocated out of the 1st 80.. so quien sabes ?

I find this very annoying, but that's the way it is. A lot of dealers auto-post once things hit their inventory. They auto-post on their website, on Cars.com, and on AutoTrader. It's irrelevant whether or not the car is spoken for since "spoken for" != sold (yet).

Englewood - one listed is sold but there is one available for June build.

My dealer is currently saying that only around 100 2013's will be built with next batch being 2014's that will be released in August.

Sorry - you are probably right about the strings that needed to be pulled to be in that March allocation.
I guess we will have to wait a bit longer for the first owner of a US GL63 to post on this forum (after MadGL for Canada). Sounds like Adam12 may be the first owner on the forum at this point.

No - She had a G63 which is no longer ours (all I can say about that). During this process, we had the opportunity to obtain one of the first 10 VIN numbers :-)
