Random CEL, dash lights, totally blank dash help needed
Put my scanner on and got code P06DA00-actuation of the valve of the oil pump in the engine has an electrical fault or open circuit. I've gotten this code 3x when the dash lights lit up like a Christmas tree, which happens often and randomly. The screen recently started to go blank also, then it comes back on. The gauges don't work, then they do work. Total gremlin!
I've seen another thread on another forum that says the dash issue is a canbus behind the instrument cluster. They wrote it's a quick at home fix.
I'm concerned about the oil pump code but I've read that this can be ignored.
Anyone have any experience with what I've written above?
Thanks in advance..Ron

i would heck the battery ( should be young and AGM), the big yellow screw from the engine compartment where the battery negative is screwed at the chassis and of course the CAN Bus distributors behind the dashboard for water ingress..

So yesterday I installed a new auxillary battery and a new canbus behing the instrument cluster. Both were very easy to do. The battery took me about 5 minutes and the canbus swap took about 40 min. If I had to do the canbus swap again I bet I could do it in about 15 minutes.
I also reset the tire pressure reference amount since we're going with the pressures on the inside of the gas cap door instead of what is on the door jab sticker. Without resetting the reference pressure and using the lower pressures we were intermittently getting the low tire pressure light. Those door jam pressures Mercedes says are normal will rattle the fillings out of your teeth!
As I've mentioned in the lead post of this thread, the car is my step daughter's so we'll have to wait for her to drive it a few times to see if these remedied the Christmas tree of dash lighrs she kept getting along with non working gauge needles and even a blank dash screen!
Upon my test start up all was normal!
I will try too report back in a week or so with a final analysis.
Both parts combined and delievered cost less than $90 by the way.
