I too am waiting to see the GLC300d and to read some reviews...spoke with my indy mechanic who advises to see the 2.1L diesel in action (along with the pricing). He swears by MB in lieu of BMW...

I spoke with a MB Diesel mechanic the 2L engines he said have been pretty solid. He said at one point they had a few with a bad cam seal which he said was a big job gven the timing chain is on the back side, basically an engine pull. But he said those were rare.

Can you tell me how many miles per gallon the diesel glc will get? I tried looking it up on the UK website, but it says 58mpg. I think I need to convert that to US miles. Seemed like a lot.

Might be an app that converts to US standards.
In Oz the published rates are .
Combined = 5.7 l/100km
Urban = 6.5 l/100km, and
Extra urban = 5.3 l/100km
CO2 emissions = 149 g/km combined test.
Hope this helps.
Currently in " running mode for first 1500km, at 1200 km getting around 7.6 combined. I expect this to continue to improve, range is est at 860km so far for a tank.
Cheers.

Try https://www.checkyourmath.com/conver...perial_mpg.php
Oz 5.7 = 41.3 us mpg
6.5 = 36.2 us mpg, and
5.3 = 44.4 us mpg by the above link.
58 imperial mpg = 48.3 mpg.
Need to allow for different testing standards, etc for Oz Govt and UK Govt standards re measurements.
Cheers

In Europe we have a 220d and a 250d (170BHP and 204BHP). Where did you hear of a 300d? My dealer says there will be no 6 cylinder diesel in GLC...

GLC 300d in U.S.
I believe all of us here in the U.S. assume the diesel GLC will be called the "GLC 300d" even though it will have the 2.1L four cylinder diesel...
Which transmission (7 or 9 speed) is matted to the Oz and UK diesels?

In Oz we have 2x diesel and 1 X petrol versions currently, all 9 speed transmission, with a lot of 20" rims, allMB MOExtender tyres, Pirelli.

I hope my Pilot holds on-I've been looking to get into the GLC, didn't like the look of the GLK but the GLC looks good. Was told to expect diesel in Fall 2016, just read on line that it looks like the last part of 2016 and the GLC300d will be released as a 2017 model-was a 2016 ever available in diesel? Any ideas on towing capacity?

I drive a 250d. It a appears to me that getting diesel of a good quality seems to be an issue in the US.....is this correct? Do all pumps have a choice of petrol (gas) and diesel?
#15
I am not sure about the quality, and not every gas station has it. But it is available everywhere. At least in east coast where I live availability is not an issue.

I doubt that it will be this year. Hope, I am wrong. I the US EPA has made it very hard for any new diesel models to be introduced after the VW fiasco. Very annoying.
QUOTE=Alex Bel;6833568]Internal Mercedes TENTATIVE RELEASE document states "end Sept new model Diesel", now my dealer tells possible later October or so.
What is the basis for your assumption? Just to keep conversation going?[/QUOTE]

No, they are made in Bremen..in the US the VW fiasco has really/really mucked up the works... example, the 2017 GLS350 BlueTech, model# change with updated interior/exterior - no powertrain changes... manufactured Mar/April this year.. still does not have Fed release because Fed has not decided if/how/what their specs/testing will be.. manufacturing this model (Vance Alabama) halted..

Ready to buy a GLC, but couldn't convince myself from not getting diesel!!! Diesel and SUV made for each other just like gas/petrol and sports cars. Looking forward to some road trips too... So ready to wait it out... Or maybe look around... F Pace is interesting, has a diesel too
This EPA fiasco really sucks!

I must have it wrong, I was considering making the trip to Germany to pick up a vehicle-dealer said the GLKs were coming out of the south-but the thought of going to pick it up wasn't quite as interesting. If they are going to come out of Germany (when ever that may be in the future) I will think about doing the visit to the plant. Has anyone done that trip?

Boy I hope you're right... I have a recalled A3 TDI that I'm going to have bought back (the vw initial claim I filled out indicated the buybacks can begin in early November), and the 300d is exactly the car I'm looking for. I contacted my local MB dealer today and he didn't have information beyond that he's heard there will be a diesel, but no release date has been set.
