I got my call on Monday from Mercedes Benz of Winston-Salem---taking it in tomorrow for the brakes replacement. I don't think I am often as excited about getting a phone call as I was for that one!

I can report that since 25-February I have not had the squealing brake issue. We had been waiting for new pads to come in from Deutschland.
Dealer performed:
LI 42.10 - P - 065628 front brakes (replace pads, brake paste application)
LI 42.10 - P - 065058 rear brakes (replace pads, brake paste application)

Last time similar work was performed (June 2016) the problem returned within 3 weeks.

So far, so good. Morning temperatures not as low as earlier, so with time and miles we'll see.

The problem now is all these replacement brakes are coming in when the weather is warming, so we may not know if they really work until late next Fall/Winter again. I thought ours worked last year when they were replaced around this time, but it did not.

Can I ask how long your parts have been on order?

I asked about them in January and MB of Winston-Salem (NC), placed me on the waiting list - stating that there were quite a few ahead of me. They called Monday and replaced mine on Tuesday. The SA told me that they were doing four GLCs that day. It makes me think a lot must have arrived. MB of Greensboro, which is about 10 miles to my east, also received theirs on Monday.

This is what they ordered (on back order) as a FIX!
Both front/rear brake pads (using above mentioned parts) replaced [per LI 42.10-P-065628/065058] .
No squeaking but it is now warm here in NJ.

RELIEF!!!!

My GLC brakes started to screech last summer...and while it got far worse and more consistent in winter, I never had the hope that when winter ends so will the screeching.

So now, after having had the brake pad replacement, I am just super happy and relieved not to be confronted by the screeching banshee that my GLC turned into each time I first applied the brakes when reversing from my driveway.

"Falling in love again..."

Bought the car on 11/20/2016. Issues started 1/15/2017. Had new parts ordered and replaced on 3/20/2017 the new parts and the awful sounds still happened when backing up twice so far. Weather was 52 in Chicago. Mercedes has recorded my issue yet again.

That's unfortunate! Do you have the replacement part #s or notes from the 3/20 visit to share?

I'm going in again on Wednesday so they can look things over again. I can ask what they've done and write it down for here. I've quickly escalated this from a local issue to senior management in the USA.

At the rate this is going for some of us, maybe we should ALL escalate this from a local issue to senior management...

We're going in for a different issue this week and will be strongly urging them to provide an update on brake parts.

Last week the dealer replaced my GLCs squealing front brakes with the revised noise free pads.

So far it appears the replacement pads cure the problem. Noise gone!

Update on the brake issue. Seems like the new parts work for almost every car. My car was one of the very small handful of cars that it didn't work for.

As of right now only four other people in the USA are in the same boat as me with the backing up sounds. Mercedes is having their top tech trouble shoot and go over things step by step with my local dealer on how to fix this. I will have my car tomorrow and they say it's 100% fixed. I feel much better getting management involved, it might've helped a lot of other people in this situation get results quicker.

For other people getting the new parts it should do the trick! If not Mercedes does seem to know both ways to do it now. Very annoying, but glad to have support to back their brand.

Thanks for your update.

We got our replaced last week and it does seem to have remedied it (for now). Not very cold here anymore, but it easily occurred without cold temperatures.

Brakes now squealing fairly consistently now 2 months after the latest revision was accomplished. We have now complied with both revisions. The first one didn't even last 1 day. The 2nd one lasted a week or two before wife noticed first squeal. They now squeal quite often. Outside temperature was 50 degrees this morning when I backed out of parking spot at a hotel and heard the squeal.

Attorney is negotiating a settlement offer from MB after they asked how much I wanted. Hopefully it avoids a court trial. But I'm willing to go that route too.

Still an unresolved issue and Mercedes will lose millions on this.

Uh Oh - my 4 month old (3000 miles driven) GLC 300 2017 just started a minor squealing (1-2 seconds) while reversing. Hoping it goes away, but does look like it's going to get worse with all the reports people have.

Has anyone dealt with Fremont, Pleasanton, Stevens Creek (Bay Area, CA) service dept. regarding this issue - can they PM me please? Wanted to see if they are now readily acknowledging there is an issue, and how long should I wait before getting in line for replacement parts?

I recommend you just make a service appt, quoting the reference numbers posted on this board. I don't think my dealership was particularly up to speed on this issue (or maybe it was just my mediocre service rep), but haranguing them will start the ball rolling.

Screeching GLC Brake Fix Working!

From 3000 to 9000 miles, a 6-month interval, we suffered with the screeching brake problem along with 100's of other owners when backing up regardless of temperature. I could not take the vehicle to our upscale country club because of the loud embarrassing screech when backing up. It could be heard up and down our street. It got sneers from other car owners witnessing the noise. Finally after seeing that a fix had been developed by M-B as reported on MB forums earlier this year I took the car to the dealer, who after a 2-week wait for the special fix parts, replaced the pads 4 weeks ago. They have been totally quiet since(about 100 backups). The car is back in our good graces. But "the best or nothing motto" has certainly been a myth.

GLC Brake Problem

Hello Guys,
I was wondering how you guys are doing with the new updated brake pads and rotor,
I want to update my situation

I have replaced the new rotors and pads for my front and rear, but after 10 days of driving, the noise is back.
The noise is not very consistent but when it comes, it is loud as usual.
I would say noise comes about 1/3 times.
However, I know for sure that when temp drops, it will be 100% loud noise.
I talked to my dealer, they told me that I am the first one who actually came back with the issue with the new brake pads and rotors.
Any of you guys having the issue?
This sucks.
