The Best of Mercedes & AMG
I tried to clear the code several times with no effect. After a couple days, the check engine light went out. I wonder if it will come back or if this was the result of water getting in somewhere to cause a sensor malfunction...

Very interesting. my 2017 GLC300 w/120Kkm has P052e codes at every hour driving.
Which valve part is deleted on the updated part? 1? or 2?
I might make my current part modified.
My indicator light is going on and off intermittently. This is happening after having the dealer fix this issue 14 months ago. Same code.
It might be challenging thing because the engine mount need to be removed, but I usually do many repair jobs such as control arms, spark plugs, brakes rotors, ATF pan etc.
My 2017 100k miles vehicle, used to get P052e code on average every 50km driving.
then I added a cup of break cleaner, WD40 etc into the PCV valve hole.
(to access the PCV and to open the cap, I needed to detach battery plus power, remove ECU and slide the intercooler)
after 3 times of doing this, still I am getting P052e code on average 500km driving now.
Erasing the code is hassle. so I will replace this part if things get worse in a few months.

You need some experience and tools to do this. Also small ratchet, various length extensions, mirror, magnet etc..
To remove the engine mount braket, I needed to support the oil pan, then lift 1 cm after remove bolts.
braket 4 bolts removed. Remove lower 2 bolts and 1 a/c bolt from under
Oil seperator is removed
Old & new part

Make sure you use ALL NEW gaskets when re-assembling. Old gaskets sometimes get crunched or otherwise don't seal correctly, and after all that work it's a shame to go back in there just to replace a leaky seal.
Any info/guidance is appreciated.

I drove 22,000 km after the first p052e at 110,000km. I reset the code more than 30 times.
No noticeable problem to me.
I saw the higher crankcase pressure might make oil pan oil leak. Mine was okay.
3) 71 or other 2 numbers look no meaning. Only P052e is important I guess.
It's an all-day repair. It requires the following procedures: remove air filter housing, remove tubing to intake line, remove engine control unit and bracket, remove intercooler from bracket, remove intercooler bracket, disconnect battery, remove belly pans, remove belt, remove AC compressor from block, support engine with hoist, remove left engine mount and bracket, and finally replace intake line with integrated vent valve....then put it all back together and clear all faults.
My service was done in December 2018 with 32,400 miles (roughly 50,000 kilometers) and I was told that by then the part had been revised.
This was one of the few design flaws (every car has them) on the earlier GLC models along with the squealing brake problem. Both of these problems have been resolved with parts updates/redesigns.

Thanks for the great info here guys and gals!

Hope it lasts longer between the code occupancy.
Quote we received at Mercedes dealer in Saskatchewan, CANADA is $950 for the part and $750 for labour.
Wish I was a lawyer and CLASS ACTION them on this!!!
Faulty engineering that has caused us to need to repair our third one (original, warranty replacement and now out of our own pocket...SAME ISSUE!!!)
Sorry needed, to "CRANKCASE VENT"!!!
And for fun, -40C and happens when my wife is driving and she thinks blown engine because of the smoke coming out of the exhaust!!!
Such a great make and model of Mercedes but with an issue as prevalent as this that MERCEDES CANADA should be doing something other than dealer charging us $1,700CDN!!!
