Latest map version
My 2017 GLC300 is going in for its annual service in two weeks, and I want to be sure that the dealer updates the navigation maps. What it the latest version for North America?

Ask your dealer, they should be able to tell you what your car has and what version (V) is the latest. You can also check what version your vehicle has in COMAND so they dont give you the run around.
That said, I have V11 in my 18 GLC43 and it is at the dealer as we speak to get V12...along with Sevice A. They couldn't complete the NAV update today, so they will finish Monday. A little ticked about that, but just easier to leave car there, use their loaner, and pick up Mon.
Kind of an out of date system if it's this friggin hard to update, but want my 3 free NAV updates that came with purchase.

Sorry to nitpick here, and please correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it "3 years" of NAV updates? I.e., they will update the NAV system for 3 years from date of purchase. Since my date of purchase doesn't coincide with the release of the new maps (late January purchase, maps released Nov-Dec?), I'll effectively only get two updates before the coverage runs out.

With COMAND navigation - at time of Service Check-In you need to specifically request "please check for - and install - any available map update".
The Mercedes system does not automatically check for update - and the Service Advisor MUST add that to your service order for the technician to check for a map update.
Thanks !

Downloading and updating the maps is not done over fibre BB, more like 128K ISDN line. It takes a long time which is why they are reluctant to
suggest it as it ties up a bay for a nearly a day. Plus if it messes up midway through, they have to start again. You get the picture...

On COMAND, make sure in Navi mode and click on the gear symbol in lower left corner. Once there, go to "Map Content" and click. Scroll down to " Map Version" and click...there ya go.
Most recent Version for my GLC is 2018/2019 V12...literally just picked my car up with that update.

Map version 2018/2019 V13.0 just came out. I had it installed in my wife's E300 yesterday at Walter's Mercedes-Benz in Riverside, CA. Apparently it had just become available--I had my GLC300 done last week, and I got V12.0.

I may have to call my dealer and just check on this. Are you sure the Versions sync up for these models because the 18 E300 looks to have a different/newer NAV system than the older GLC one even though both are COMAND? Bummer, if so. Wish MB was a little more transparent on Versions, instead of the "call your dealer" instruction. MB has a Navigation website, so just post the most recent there.

Last time I went in for a map update, dealer insisted I had the latest. I went home and googled until I find the MB part number for the upgrade and emailed it to them and they then said "it was just released" and ordered it and delivered it to me. It comes on a USB drive. It requires an activation code from the dealer and took me about 15 minutes to install.
It would help everyone if people would look at their service invoices when upgrades are installed and post the part number of the repair.

New map update
Since my GLC300's free three year map update period is coming up next month, I checked with the dealer and was told the latest version is V.12 , Just got the car back. Very happy to see that Version 13 for 2019/2020 was installed. Must have been just released for GLC.
